If people can grow so fat as to start melding with their furniture. A gamer wont die from a week long marathon unless he has serious health issues to start with.

Was there any point in that retards mind where he thought to himself "man, my stomach is really folding in on itself, I gotta take a dookie and Im thirsty as all hell"?

Is it insensitive to want to dig him up, then slap the hell out of him?

Your still a child in the eyes of the universe

Seriously I finished Diablo 3 once on normal. Enjoyed the story, now I avoid it unless someone I know is on it and wants me to play with them.

Maybe this guy was so close to defeating the Prime Evil on the super secret difficulty that Diablo reached through dimensions and killed him with dark magic?

I'd say the ponies or teddy bears got him.

Ugh don't mention that level... It gave me nightmares.

And even if you were just joking, yes there is in fact a cartoon pony level hidden in d3.

You know, I just realized that there seems to be one thing in common with the majority of cases such as this.

While looking over the large number of news articles about people dying in net cafes while gaming, it reveals that the vast majority of them are Asians.

That poor, poor bastard.

NO ONE should ever be forced to play Diablo 3 for more than a few minutes, yet alone 40 hours.

Back in Uni I did a 72 hour gaming session without sleep or food (poor student) and just water from the taps in the uni computer rooms sink. I then went back to my room and packed my stuff for my father to pick me up for the summer.

I didn't die (I didn't finish my degree but thats another story) and was probably awake 4 days total. I did however have things crawling at the edge of my vision.

This was the day of MUD's so I had to think the whole 72 hours too, not press lmb over and over and maybe rmb and 1, 2, 3

3 days without water, give or take 12 hours depending on how they have previously treated themselves.
7 days is average for no food, but if done properly, you can survive up to 2 weeks with next to no nourishment.

People die marathoning things all the damn time. In-fact, you know what else people die doing? Endurance marathons. I guess exercise kills people.

Also, wrong sub-forum.

In before "games kill people", I'm sure the news are blowing the story out of proportion. People die all the time for weird reasons, this dude just happened to die while playing on an internet cafe. He might as well had been at home reading a book.

I also call bs on the "40 hours with no food or water". If there's something you will always get at an internet cafe is an endless supply of pizza and red bull. I've been online for 48 hours camping a gate, you don't die. The toon does die tho, cuz your brain gets descync and time-dilated. But you don't RL die.

PS: I usually don't joke about the dead but since the story looks full of BS to me... "Did he dropped any loot?"

This is actually a true report: there have been cases reported (and widely so) about gamers from Korea and China literally 'playing themselves to death'.

If he was taking Red Bull, by the way, it may have contributed to his death -- besides the caffiene, taurine is an adenosine inhibitor (adenosine is a chemical that puts your brain into 'sleep mode'; going without adenosine long enough can cause convulsions, seizures, and heart attacks.

It article says that sitting still for the long period could have created blood clots, that may have ended up killing him. While it's not impossible but highly unlike that sleep deprivation will kill you, unless it's drug induced, and same goes for dehydration and starvation.

A 97 year old man survived 7 days without food or water. Going without food, water or sleep for 40 hours may not be healthy, but it should not kill a otherwise health teenager.

I can't believe how many sick people are in this thread making fun of a dead 18 year old kid.

Apathy is easy, empathy is not, it takes effort and makes you look weak.
