How embarrassing. being so bad at playing you need to avoid your KM's being generated.

Bug most likely marked as "WONTFIX". There must be a bunch of those ;)

To the Devs:

I know you are busy people so here is the fix. All you have to do is insert this bit of code into the Eject routinue at the point where the ship stats are being re-generated.

IF (Structure_HP < 1) Then
Structure_HP = 1
ENDIF

Sounds more like that makes ships indestructible Smile

edit, guess the way you describe it makes sense, but it's not going to solve your kill mail problem, there is still no pilot in the ship when it later gets destroyed.

So, lets add an instant 1M shield for 1 minute to the ship when people eject. Then the aggressors can stop shooting and pick up the T3 later. Twisted

Not true. I tested this last night.

1. I shot one noobship to 11 structure, pilot ejected and the ship popped - no KillMail
2. I shot one noobship to low armor, pilot ejected and then I shot it until it popped and got this KM, with the pilot still showing as the owner and the full damage taken. The only thing I didn't test was shooting with multiple pilot and seeing if people who didn't fire after the eject still appeared - anyone?

If that killmail were a titan, I could imagine people doing this quite a lot.

Come to think of it, I'm fairly sure I've read about this at least a month ago - precisely in relation to titans.

If a pilot ejects with greater than 20% structure remaining and his ship still takes fire and pops, he gets a lossmail. I proved this last night.

If a pilot ejects with less than 20% structure remaining his ship pops because his mechanic skill bonus is removed from the ship. No lossmail is generated because the system doesn't recognise a pilot getting the final blow. I also proved this last night.

If anyone can't see that the second case is the result of a hole in the progamming code, there is something wrong with you. And anyone timing their eject to take advantage of that bug is clearly EXPLOITING the system. It doesn't get any clearer than that. In fact it would be worth petitioning the English Oxford Dictionary to include this example in the definition of the word EXPLOIT.

To those saying KMs don't matter, I say it matters to all the people trying to ridicule this thread with phrases like KMs don't matter - why are you so concerned that CCP might actually fix this bug? Clearly it matters to the pilots who use this EXPLOIT. Like the two command ships pilots I witnessed do just this. As someone above posted, if a Titan pilot used this EXPLOIT to avoid his loss mail the people involved would be pretty hacked off. I would also point out that it is not just Loss Mails, but what about a T3 pilot using this EXPLOIT to avoid the Skill Point hit.

I don't fly T3 so I'm only guessing that last, apologies if I am wrong on that, but I know I've read a T3 pilot blogg about losing a Legion but getting a 'Perfect Eject'.

To those saying this is old news. Did you actually work out the mechanic of the EXPLOIT. Did you bug report it with a step by step guide of how to repeat it?

I did, and it was clear to me that during my investigation into the command ship kills, most people had no idea why those kills didn't generate. Repeatidly people were telling me they must have self-destructed or it was some random bug. The CCP GMs who handled my original petition into the second one told me "Sometimes when a node is overloaded, a loss mail is not authored, it is a low priority on the node and sometimes happens."

The ship still asplodes.

The loots get dropped.

The pilot is left in a pod.

All the game-state things that matter occur.

Submit it to the bug-tracker and move on with your life.

It must be awful being someone who has to exploit poor mechanics in order to hide the fact they lost at a vidya game.
