+1 for thinking out side the box

interesting idea, and i can see how it would work.

but since you decided to forum wh0re for likes and go public, it will be countered ( as suggested above). you should have kept it to your buddies and just be happy with being a Kill board muppet.

Pog mo thoin

or even better;

and note the time elapsed between each kill for the past... week.

Bonus points for keeping several ships in the orca so that when one is about to die, you can hop in your armor tanked one to finish the job

Putting multiple T3s inside an orca makes it a tempting ganking target even in highsec. Besides, what's to stop me from just smartbombing your pod as soon as you stow the ship?

Finally, why on Earth would anyone give a damn about a low/high gatecamp? You can at best inconvenience the truly ********; all the important cargo goes by jump freighter anyway.

It is possible to camp a low<>high gate in super expensive (or shitfit) tech3 cruisers, and if you are about to die you are guaranteed 100% to escape and never lose your ship. Simply place your ship inside of a neutral orca who's at 0 on gate, and warp your pod away. Your ship will be returned when the superior enemy force leaves.

Enjoy

You never get away...

Have 2-4 Smartbombing BSs jump in and burn back to gate whilest lighting smartbombs and scram everything, light cyno with recon and have as much stealthbombers jump in at range and push the orca through the gate, where a group of Tornados just landed. PODs blow up from smartbombs, gank Tornadoes take out Orca in highsec filled with shinys. Thrasher or 2 to take out Orca POD....

Oh wait, I did this before...

Questions?

This simply wouldnt work. 100mn AB tech3 cruisers can burn back to the orca, dock, and then the orca can jump into highsec, before your smartbombing battleships get anywhere near it to damage OR bump it. Unless of course im being an idiot and have my t3's 50km away from the orca... but i'll just choose to not be stupid about that.

actually i am correct. If you log out without ANY aggression timers, your ship will warp exactly 1au away in a random direction, and then vanish after 60 seconds.
It is -impossible- to interrupt this e-warp unless the ship was ALREADY agressed before the e-warp was initiated.

Try it on sisi if you dont believe me. Log out a slow-warping ship, and then try to tackle it. And watch it e-warp anyway. If you manage to probe it out in its e-warp'd position within 60 seconds and tackle it, it will still vanish in 60 seconds. And if the player logs back in while its still there (or you wait for him to come back) you are unable to interrupt its e-warp back to its original position on the gate ether.

The aggression mechanic change that happened fairly recently only effects ships that were ALREADY SHOT AT before they attempted to log out.

I find it kind of strange that your opinion of "winning" is the following:

  • Staring at a gate for hours
  • Shooting the t1 frigates that come by
  • Tucking your tail and running the instant a real fight shows up at your doorstep

Does the actual combat mean nothing to you? Is your goal to pad your killboard so you can wave your epeen in the face of other combat-averse stat whores?

If your goal is tears, some advice: big kills hurt a lot more.

It is more than possible to probe you out and take your orca out in that timeframe if you really want it dead.

Happens every single damn day in nullsec.

Also I'm sure someone would shoot the Orca at least once before they T3s were stowed. Thats all it would take for it to be in space until its dead, even in HS.

Harboring criminals flag needed.

Jump a ship that contains 'flagged' ships into high sec and BOOM-HEAD-SHOT.

Loop hole closed.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

What about the part where they gank the Orca after it jumps?

95% of the players are loving EVE, the other 5%? On the forums.

For not "giving a crap" you wrote a lot of replies in this thread. :P

This. I mean, it's a great theory and easily be proven or falsified by just doing it (and by doing it I mean over a longer run, let's say 4 weeks at least). And the ones posting theories about how it could be countered then get the chance to prove their theory right or wrong.

But right now it has the touch of EFT warriors, talking about a theory.

I often wonder the same thing about the thousands of pilots that do that every day from high sec belts to low/null gates.

1) Create a character.
2) Never undock.

I would like to see that Orca live long enough to get to 0 at the gate, and long enough for the T3s to be dock in it.

As Liang Nuren has already pointed out - Heretic Nation uses this technique in Amamake with great success (the Orca can just warp to 0 on the gate if it hasn't already been there when the fight started).

It's amazing how many ways people come up with not to pvp in Eve.

OP, I find your idea less than stellar. But I'm not surprised. You're a gate-camper.

1. Position a fleet of alpha tornados on the hisec side, along with a prober.
2. Fire a shot at the Orca while T3 pilots are stowing their ships.
3. Laugh as your "unkillable" Orca jumps.
4. Laugh more as your "unkillable" Orca pilot logs out when he sees the hisec gatecamp.
5. Probe out aggressed Orca and kill it with suicide fleet.
6. Profit
7. (my favorite) Post on forums with kb links about how stupid and fail the entire concept was.

I care about the odd goon getting kill on a gate, and when it happens i'll be right here on the forums, so he will have a shoulder to cry on.
