Low Sec Gate Cans Exploit essentially unenforcable by CCP

Low Sec pilots with valuable cargo's be warned. Cry

Pirate Corps and alliances are using an age old exploit to great affect and getting away with it daily. The ole drop secure cans at a gate to cause a ship bounce off the gate is effective and you can expect little reimbursement from CCP unless you have a filed exploit ticket that they actually look at and respond too while the cans are at the gate. Good luck with that Ugh

I suspect until this exploit is fixed, low sec safe transport of anything remotely valuable is now impossible EVEN in a shuttle oh yeah that includes your implants.. no reimbursement there either. While gate gun camping is a common tactic, this development takes away one of the few remaining ways pilots can get to a gate to jump, it reminds me of the heady days of the 15km gate warp, where players had to make insta bm's on the gate to avoid disaster. Well kiss those warp 0 jumps good bye, now any cheap ass pilot with a handful of small secure containers can effectively dump all this crap at a gate and gank away. All they need to do is be sure they pick the cans up before CCP gets around to looking at the gate, which can take days if you don't file a 'proper' ticket in the correct folder. Oh yeah forget about using screen shots to show this astonishing abuse, CCP doesn't take player submitted screens.

Current systems where this tactic is being used is Yaherer, probably others though this is the only one I know of atm.

no.

the cans drop from the industrials that are killed by the pirates...sometimes 4-5 at a time.

not likely. The cans are placed in a spherical pattern around the gate. I took several screens.

Possibly CCP figures that if you're dumb enough to warp straight from gate to gate (the path that bubbles and cans are usually placed on) you pretty much deserve to die anyhow?

BTW, pretty sure that strategic cans are not an exploit, only dropping enough crap that it could potentially lag out or completely block a ship is an exploit. Last time I saw an official ruling on this using 4 or 5 cans was fine.

yup I'm sure 4 or 5 cans is not an issue. This is not 4-5 cans, and they are not dropped by pilots blown up because they all have the id of the gankers on them. From the screenshot its over 60 cans, small secure containers, positioned around the gate at about 5km intervals.

Screens please, and post on your main unless you want to be considered a joke/troll.

...also (if by some miracle you are being serious about screens) that sphere is just naturally occurring due to the game mechanics of warping to gate.

Technical point but iirc cans around a gate to decloak was not the reason CCP considered this an exploit. It was an offense, yes, but for deliberately creating lag, not because whiny cloakies felt they should have immunity from death.

Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.

Killing me should be for free.

Fankly it's very rare, I say that as a (non-camping) pirate living in lowsec but also a lowsec based industrialist, I have to date never lost a viator or occator to a camp.

Pro tip; Avoid hi-sec to low-sec gates that the 'set destination' functionality sends you by like the plague. Just have look at Dotlan and see if there's another way 'in'. There almost always is and most hi-sec to low-sec gates that aren't on the ap/set destination routes are rarely if ever camped.

It's only an exploit if it's enough spacejunk to lag someone out when they're loading grid.

That requires a lot more than 60 cans.

(I've seen a gate bubbled with something over 100 bubbles without lagging me out)

If the cans are there to bump or decloak, and they're not enough to lag people out, they're fine.

You seem like one of these individuals who doesn't utilize his thinking brain very well. The issue here is whether this is an exploit. It does not for a second matter whether the space is null security, low security or high security. POS bowling was still an exploit, even though it was conducted in 0.0. The space has absolutely no relation to whether something is an exploit or not.

The gate in question looks exactly like what happens when you blow up a bunch of industrials around a gate. Also unless you are pants on head ******** the cans aren't going to bump you off the gate.

Exploded industrials rarely anchor containers. However, yes, I wonder how those would bump you off the gate.
Sorry for any inconvenience. We are experimenting with such stuff from time to time, but Yahy should be pretty empty right now since we are on vacation in Venal, so feel free to try again.

Look at this guy...he had 16(!) Containers in his Cargo. In this case only 5 dropped but it could have been 16 with just one kill. After the ship is killed the containers "float" stationary in space in a distance of up to 3 k around the wreck.

Sorry for posting a km but it serves the greater good.

So you have three almost-identical pictures you want to share, and your first thought was to make a low-resolution video of them and post it to YouTube?

You have GOT to be trolling. Please be trolling. Because if you're not trolling, I weep for all the generations of human beings who toiled and suffered to pass on the genes which resulted in you.

In other words, that was a really bad way to show us screen shots.
