CCPs statement is ambiguous and can be interpreted in at least two different ways. Is it overall win/losses and then points? Or is it overall win/losses then between teams win/losses and then points?

Raivi seems very sure on his interpretation and maybe he has some inside information.

Edit: Actually, what seems to make most sense is to have between teams win/loss as the last tiebreaker after points. Maybe CCP can clarify this.

You're confusing "Group Stage Points" where it's 3/1/0 for W/D/L, and points awarded for killing spaceships.

From the rules:

Group Stage

These 32 teams will be divided, at random, into 8 groups of 4 teams.Within each group, teams will fight "round robin" to determine the top two teams in each bracket. (Round robin means that each team in the group will fight each other team in the group once).Team rankings will be determined by Win/Loss/Draw and then by total points scored.

I think some people have confused this following part, which only applies to pre-qualifying, for the Group Stage.

Pre-Qualifying Rankings

If at any point, teams are level in Win/Loss and also level in points scored, the following will be used in order to determine ranking position.

If the teams disputing rank have fought each other at any point, the winner is higher.
The current ranking (W/L, then points) of the last team that you defeated. Higher is better.
The current ranking of the last team that defeated you. Again, higher is better.

Some commentators and/or writers might have gotten these parts confused. However, as the rules are written, in the Group Stage, it's by Win/Loss/Draw record and then points.

W/D/L is just that, with no comparable value afaik, e.g. a Win doesn't equal 3 Draws.

Yeah, that makes most sense. And if I am not mistaken that is exactly the rules for the pre-qualifying too since I am sure they need a tiebreaker also in group stage if teams happen to end up on the same W/L/D and points.

The rankings are by W/L/D and then by points.

Some commentators described this part of the rules incorrectly on air, but in any case where the commentators statements and the rules as written conflict with each other you can assume the rules are correct.
