The Fanfest is the deadline for CCP to give us the stuff we have been wanting and asking for, for years - be it buffs, fixes, finally completed features, nerfs...whatever. If they fail to do this, either nobody will turn up for Fanfest, or a **** load of people will turn up, loaded with rotten fruit to throw at the stage.

A Fanfest at this moment of time, with this much anxiety and anger amongst the community would be an ugly sight...something that, I am sure, hasn't failed to be recognised by CCP.

I (for one) have missed the frequency and depth of dev blogs in the recent past (pretty much since the "Threadnaught" and special CSM summit).

It's almost like CCP and the player base have had a "falling out" and are not really on speaking terms. - In fact as I write this, it makes even more sense.

I've read the blog - I think there are good intentions behind it; (not withstanding it's brevity). At least letting the player base know that CCP are taking a long hard look at their focus is better than the cold shoulder of recent times.

I also read the CSM statement and was a little interested in the posturing on their side, but quite unsure how to take what they said. I fully agree with more features for "flying in space" and actually looking at the crowd sourcing results. Also continuing work on the "little things" is important to me. However "iterating" features is at best limiting and at worst meaningless in its ambiguity.

In the end, I'm happy that CCP are being introspective in light of the recent reactions from the player base. - I'm certainly

I for one look forward to the details when they are ready for public release and then look forward to the execution of those ideas in the game.

Also worth mentioning, I'd personally would like to see a return to frequent and detailed dev blogs!Lol

I highly doubt Id see any new ships based on few things Ive suggested on the past in terms of role and function, but we will just have to see.

Aside from that I do expect several ships that are in the eyes of beholders broken or imbalanced or just plain not working.

Such as:
Engine trails which is going to make me happy seeing the homeworld feel return back.
AF missing bonus which has been on vacation long enough :P though I understand that the wrong bonus throws things way out of balance but Im pertty sure the balance cant really get any worse than super carriers vs everyone else.
Drameil misbalance
Along with many other things that need to be revisited such as scripts and ewar and the sorts.

Possibly an artistic revamp of more than one ship this time around?

Eventual removal of built in launchers on various but few ship models (ie bellecious rifter drake) to allow for launcher turrets instead?

Im no technical artist by a long shot but wouldnt a work around for the missiles comming out of a turret be solvable with a fake particle effect similar to the missile trail that meets up with the actual missile 'model' which then lights off its own engine trail at that precalculated point? I mean this would allow for macross missile spam death apperance to if the tech artist pull it off right.

I mean it would probably not require ripping the old code out that handels the acutal missile creation other than giving a missile an assigned desigantor from whatever launched it but I think that's already known by the server. Just the one that managest the particle effects being generated by the missile 'engine'.

(which btw I would rather settle for a hexagonal tube of 8 poly over a multi-poly round base cone (if i recall right had 8 sides at least so makes it a 9 poly model) as a missile model if worse comes to worse you can always go with a long box missile at 6 polys or even a single poly as a source of the trail since thats the second largest visual missiles have. Not sure how much more rendering sources you'd save between the two models though then again the last missile i managed to observe was launched by a sleeper before it lodged itself in my hull on the test server not sure if you guys updated it since then.)

to allow for a fake missile creation at the turrets that meet up as fake particles effects until the point of conjointment or arc furthest away fro the ships 'bubble' where the real projectile is animated.

This blog utterly explains nothing.
Even if it did, I'm watching what you do and not what you say, CCP.
I hope YOUR BODY is ready for the shitstorm that may happen if all this hype created dissapoints the playerbase, again...

This seems to be commendable wisdom / practice for all -not just for those who have their memos leaked.¹

If CCP is asking for a wish list then here's a short one...
1. I'd like to not have to run the log server every time I run the Eve Online client.
2. Log server files without errors in them would be nice to see.²

¹In that regard, the forums are like local chat -only the character portraits can't be hidden or resized and I haven't figured out how to block people yet.
²This is in reference to non-filtered and, seemingly, non-considered bug reports.

excuse us for being cautiously optimistic here. Over the last 2-3 years, you have given us little to no reason to trust a word of what you say when it comes to FiS. Its really become a meme on these forums, but we are at a time where we watch what CCP does, not what they say.

It's kind of silly to make a huge deal out of a resource reallocation blog and then forget to mention just what you are reallocating to. If only there was some group of people with some common sense you could run your blog by before publishing it.

Careful there, Zulu.

I've noticed a trend in the way you deal with the community here. In light of that trend, I'm going to share a little something with you that you might not have realized:

The people you so blithely dismiss as "the rabble brigade" are the people paying your salary. I wouldn't suggest using kid gloves, but you should probably be a little more careful with what you say to them.

TBH, that's what a lot of players are worried about - that resources will be allocated to "cool stuff" rather than the massive array of fixes, refurbishments, and balancing issues that need to be implemented or addressed. For example, making POS less eye-gougingly horrible to set up and maintain may not be "cool" but it's something you've been promising to do for years without ever actually having spent any time on. The same goes for addressing ship balancing issues or sovereignty mechanics or whatever.

What Eve needs at the moment isn't more "cool" things, it's a lot of maintenance and repair work.

I just had a conversation with a squirrel that had more content than that blog. Oddly, like that blog, there was much chirping and paw-stamping going on, but no meaningful communication was accomplished.

Moments that define history? I think not.

The focus of what resources, though. That's what's missing from your blog, that's why it's just meaningless :words:

What new resources are being committed to "spaceships"?

You know what? No. He can call me a kitten-******* transexual yiffy, and say my mum is ugly as well, as long as he also tells us that we've got 8 more dev teams working on spaceships.
