Because nobody else is saying it, I'll say it. I want Incarna. The real Incarna. The Incarna with player interaction. I love to fly my space ship and shoot people with my autocannons, but you can't do that all the time. Sometimes you just need to get out of all that pod goo and feel weak and mortal for a while. So while I don't want you to stop working on flying in space, I don't want you to stop working on Incarna either.

There are other players who want Incarna too. Some of them won't say it because the bittervets will deem them unworthy. Some of them don't post on the forums. Some of them quit long ago. Some of them haven't even started playing yet. But there are others.

Don't get me wrong, I want incarna also... but the one they released a video about a few years ago where they had a dude walking around in a ***** bar and a pretty cool game that the devs were messing around with that you could challenge others to in one of the "establishments".

Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoOyvRTA2Ps&feature=related

I also want incarna dude.

Yea... ^^ is what I was expecting. I was kinda amused when I found out that all this code was "binned" and all we got was graphical showdown without any content worth mentioning. I still think that the original design was better than the current one.

Think graphics after content is finished. People play content, not graphics.
Graphics can be upgraded - content is more difficult to change.
Graphics sell, render videos. People do not play videos - fake it.
Future vision is there - you already know howto.

Get classic forum style - custom videos to captains quarters screen

Play with the best - die like the rest

sounds good, but honestly let me repeat something CCP said in the past "We'll wait to see what you do not what you say" ... honestly so far all you guys have said is the smallest of things... and some obscure wide spanning "ideas"

EVE to LOTR Analogy.

Bear with me:

In the scene, the following characters represent things in the issues of the past month. They are as follows:

Gandalf & Pippin = EVE the game itself
Witch-King = Incarna
Theoden = John Turbefield (Diagoras)
Riders of Rohan = People who prefer the old vision of EVE (no MTs, no forced Incarna)
Orcs = Proponents of the new vision of EVE (pro MT, Incarna, etc.)
Orc Captain (Gothmog) = CCP Soundwave (Big smile)

It works. I think.

CCP should install webcams all over their HQ, and make The Office, Reykjavik Edition.

no patch notes = no fixes = nothing to see here...

give me a set of patch notes full of things players have asked for (like say from the CSM backlog) then i might give you a thumbs up, till then this is a fail dev blog.

I'd love to be optimistic about this but it's all a bit silly now. Lag is still a problem, CCP is selling avatar pants for a billion isk, I mean how much can they revitalize the game? One billion isk for a pair of pants and you cant' even get in large fleet fights with out node crashes. They want you to pre-plan fleet fights, and file a flight plan. They are so flushing this game down the toilet. CCP should really just make it Free 2 Play so they can sell you ships already. navy Issue Raven- ten trillion isk please. Clown central.

none of this week's devblogs were shown to the CSM in advance.

Yes, it would be totally consistent if that is the case / the game they are playing.

I'm watching what they do, not what they say.
(Watching until the paid annual subs run out in Spring 2012, anyway)

CCP clearly stated the value they place on what we say.

I'm happy to give their :words: the same level of respect.

So some reality checks, since CCP hasn't been working on anything related to what the player base has been calling for and have let themselves focus on the new shiny nothing can happen good for us any time soon, Why[?], serious development takes time.

Yes, they have pretty much screwed the pooch.

They took over two months after the Riots to decide that "Gee, those players are actually doing something. This is costing us real money. We better do something they like.".

Now, a lot of players are looking for the 'Winter Expansion' to show that substantial effort/resources are again being applied to Eve Online (AKA, Flying in Space by some). However, there isn't enough time left to design, develop and deliver much of anything this year.

The best we can realistically hope for is some wide spread bug-stomping and minor feature tweaks.

Quality software development is hard and takes time. It can't just be pulled out of your rear-end when needed.

At Trebor's urging:

I vote go for fixing up and iterating on existing features, at least initially. Fix a lot of broken systems, work a little bit within the already massively complex universe you already have before trying to add in more content.

Get POS's fixed up, that dead horse thread has been around for a long-ass time and really should probably get checked off at some point soon.

Sov definitely could use a revamp.

FW, WH's, Incursions, capitals, super capitals, T3, art assets, PI, Dust Link, etc. They all have room for iterative improvement, and should at least be gotten to something slightly more useful before trying to jump onto new and shiny FiS features. Though I'd say a balance would be the best approach in the long run.

Initially I would say make a gigantic push to fix the old **** and get it in tip top shape, make this game unilaterally awesome and new instead of having bits from 2003 that are slowing down or inhibiting your 2011 bits. Then keep a team or three tasked with continued iteration and updates on that content while moving the rest of the workforce into new content again.

Additionally, I would say deliver on the development promises you have stated for the short term, get Incarna out from being a useless one person barbie show at least, get the nebulae in, finish upgrading ship textures, etc.

Dang forums deleated a huge long post.

TLDR
EvE is boring
Not a lot of worthwhile content in a 2h play period.

PvP takes to long because huge form up then combat is 30 jumps away.
PvE is mind numbing and solo.

Incursions and WH are great but take more time due to travel or scanning time required.

Give me something to do that is fun and worth while to do.

Small scale PvP that means something and helps my alliance or hurts the other that does not require me going 30 jumps there and then 30 back.
PvE content that takes a group and is always there...close by so in between ops we can have some fun isking up.

Just make it worth logging in if I only have an hour to play.
