I feel a little sad that we can't have three teams from this group enter the next stage because Rote, RvB and PL have all been super entertaining and good this year. Props to all three teams!

See it from this angle: having these strong teams in one group means that we get to see those really good fights early in the tournament. Ignoring those stupid blackouts for a minute does this keep the viewer numbers high, because everyone gets to feel the excitement of the tournament. If it was more spread out (having one strong team in each group) then it could get too predictable through each stage and you would see the weaker teams being kicked out one by one.

This is so much better.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Interesting choice relying so heavily on neuts when they most likely would face capless weapons and ASBs. Looking at ship statistics, Rote Kapelle fielded the second, forth and fifth most common ships in AT so far. And PLs 100B elite setup seemed to have no counter to the Sleipnirs. Maybe it is time to go back to the drawing board?

That said it was a really good match. Thanks for the entertainment both teams.

Still need cap to run ewar, props, dcu, and hardeners. An asb'd ship is that much easier to kill if its web'd to crap, hardeners are off and logi's assploded.

Yeah, all that is true. But it didn't seem to work that well against three Sleipnirs (and a bunch of high DPS AFs) rushing to kill their BSs. Only one Sleipnir was neuted and one webbed. This weakness has to be taken seriously since Sleipnirs are the most common dps ship in AT followed by Cyclones.

Maybe if they had more TDs they could have saved their flagship and won the match. Or if they would have brought down one of the Sleipnirs before going for the Scimitar.

Yeah, I know it is so much easier to win tournaments when you are spectator. And I don't really like sports but fun game. Good fight.

PL were watching every practice we did, and we were fielding teams that their setup would've annihilated, on singularity.

I can criticize my team and I pretty hard too. Sure we won, and their setup wasn't geared to beat ours, but they still had a great team, that was solid as all ****.

At the three minute mark we should've pushed for their damnation, to secure another 16 points. It would've died in three minutes too, the sleip dps is considerable.

There are other things, but we are very happy to take a win away from that match.

When we said GF, we 100% meant it. Great showing.

I guess you really wanted to kill one of these Malices ... but yeah, the smart thing would have been to go for the Damnation. Good win though. Awesome.

I am really looking forward to seeing you guys next weekend.

It was a great match!
But tbh pl broke first rule of eve pvp: Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Malices were mostly useless for more than half of a match simply because pl's ego (not wallet) couldn't handle losing them. A setup where 1/3 of the team cannot commit to a fight deserved a loss.
Now I am really curious how rich rvb will get...

Pretty sure you must have watched a different match than I did.

PL engaged with them just fine, and our team ignored the bait. It wasn't until the end that they kited them out and away to avoid losing them.

Also, I'm pretty sure the "don't fly what you can't afford to lose" rule doesn't apply here since PL could easily have absorbed those losses. And they had the ego to bring them, knowing full well they might lose one or more of them.

Finally, I'm of two minds about the use of the Malice in the tournament. While, of course, I was rooting for my team to catch them and kill them, I'd have also been a little saddened by their loss. There are a finite number of tournament ships in game and I hate to see them lost.

Mad props to PL for using them.

PL was purdy much all in with that match. Considering those ships were prizes that PL didn't even WIN, I'm pretty sure they were prepared to lose 4 tourny frigs for a more definite shot at 50x ATX ships.

That was a really good fight to watch (only just caught up with the results from yesterday) - very well fought to Rote Kapelle and it was a ridiculously exciting match that could have gone either way.

Thanks Jade. It was our own little Thorax charge of sorts. PL brought the style points for us though.

The people who flew that team, are in Rote Kapelle.

seriously?

damn

Baller status. There will never be a more epic upset. Bob won it it, what, 5 years in a row? I think they went the whole tounryment with the same single set up didn't they? they were so cocky, they kept using the same 10 ships. And then, 10 thoraxes, and it as the bext counter I've ever seen. And like that, bob finally lost a match after 5 years.

If you wanted the fit, you should have killed them. :)

*hint* they were not Civillian lasar fitted.

Sorry we killed you bud. Flagships are like that though. They don't, generally speaking, tank harder than the non FS variants, and they provide more dps/utility.

RE: Malices, I'm glad I didn't call a rush on them after the bhaals went down. It would have taken too much time, and we were super low on frigs after the guardian went down. They're so majestic I think I would have had a hard time firing that last shot. I did get close to running down Joe Fishy though Smile
