Why I Like Nullsec More Than Highsec (And Slightly More Than W-Space): The Tusen Takk Story

as seeen on reddit:

Before I moved to nullsec, for almost two years i had to deal with highsec pvp wardecing, dealing with station games and neut rr, dealing with someone being in all of the good sites, dealing with having to rely on jita and amarr as trade hubs, and having to deal with carebearing pubbies who didn't know how to run L4s properly or who didn't know how to speed incursion before they "fixed" it.

So I tried wormhole space first. This turned out well for a while, the wardec corp I was in had a wormhole division, and since I was tired of HS and it's BS, I decided to try it. It went well, I made some isk, and I eventually became one of the board members of the alliance since I was so active in the WH.

But then, tragedy struck: I logged in to find that all of my assets had been loaded into my orca by one of my close friends and allies on the director board, and I lost about 5bn isk in assets, all because my mate got drunk and convo'd the group who camped our WH sometimes.

I was bummed out, couldn't blame the guy for it (I woulda done the same thing, and we're still mates), so I moved on and started flying with an associate of my alliance who specialised in WH take overs, scams, and WH protection rackets that all made and killed significant amounts of isk. This is when life got exciting in Eve. After doing small things here and there, we came across a mark alliance who needed help defending their C4 loaded with capitals and T3 hulls. We convinced them to jettison everything from the POSs before they went to sleep, then preceded to steal everything, and we used their own capitals to destroy their POSs and then sold the caps to their invaders. I walked away from this about 6bn isk richer than the day before, thanks to almost a dozen T3 hulls and subsystems as well as some battleships and logi boats.

Then I moved to nullsec with the very crappy alliance Pirate Nation., who started out as RA. Slaves in the great battle of AAA vs RA/controlled chaos. It was awesome (even though we lost and there was no ship replacement programme). Soon we were getting our **** packed by a SOLAR fleet/AAA offensive, and we didn't know what to do.

So PN. decided "screw RA", and we bailed out of 49dp in the middle of the night, then proceeded to reset CC and RA. We took old ewok/evoke/br1ck squ4d space in delve.

Soon, however, we were invaded by the displaced RA and lost all of our sov, and being the CEO of the largest corp in the alliance, decided to pull my corp from PN, form a new corp with a mate, and join SMA.

Once we were in SMA, it was like I was playing a new and more exciting version of Eve. We had Raiden. to kill, ships were replaced at good rates (anything is better than zero), and ops weren't serious business STRAIGHTEN UP OR WE'LL SHOOT YOU SON kinds of ops... They were fun, hilarious even. TEST and GSF fleet mates had me dying laughing all the time and the FCs even ENCOURAGED this type of behaviour.

This was better than any highsec BS, this was better than anything in the game. This was CFC.

After flying with SMA for about three months or so, I had to go AFK to study for my orgo and pchem finals, which took two weeks, and when I came back, I came to find that my corp had been booted from SMA for apparently killing a TEST in a lowsec system when the TEST pilot was -10 or something. So I moved on and me and a few corpmates applied and got into various GSF corps, some into Eternity, some like myself into WIdot.

Now that I'm flying for a major power, and taking part in shaping the game, I actually want to log in and play and kill and camp. Not only is the SRP amazing, but my fellow pilots who I fly with are as well, and without CFC, I would have unsubscribed from this terrible game a long time ago.

This is my story, I've never really put it into words like that, but there it is, a testament that any idiot HS pilot can become space rich without having to rat, plex, or market. And yes this is a lot of words but hey I showed up to work an hour early and didn't know what to do with myself so tada!

Would have been far more profound if anyone but a CFC member had posted it. As it stands, it's sounds like a testimonial for the latest phallus enlargement pill.

Cool story, though.

Yes, we're tired, now is the time for -A- to strike back before RA loses the rest of their stuff and maybe Nulli will even return.

It was tanking them for quite some time, I think he couldn't break the BS. At any rate as lord of all things megathron I just had to exicute him for his crimes.

As a persuasive work, this boils down to "I prefer nullsec because I'm having more fun.", which doesn't convince anyone who got popped in seconds by their first gatecamp. Also, "I had fun in wormholes, but I have more fun in nullsec." "I have fun in the CFC and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have fun with people who threaten to shoot me :-("

Really, a mostly-AFK miner can tell a story about what he's been doing in EVE that can sound a lot like this guy's story: "I was with these guys, and then with these other guys, and then this happened, and now I'm with these guys who are sort of ha-ha-just-serious, and I'm having fun." Which is not a fault of nullsec, or of this guy's actual experiences in nullsec -- it's just a fault in his story. He can tell a better one.

Emphasis mine :-) "Any idiot HS pilot can become a vassal of a major power, and then be able to have fun consuming capital rather than having to produce it."

I don't disagree (and I don't think there's anything wrong with being a vassal, either -- if you **** on that then you're pissing on chivalrous knights in bloodied armor, on Samurais, on "the troops", et al.), but if this is supposed to be persuasive, all a HS idiot has to do is get scammed out of a 500mil security deposit, or glance at a recruitment page and see SP requirements, to doubt that this is really the case. Or this story can be read, where this guy didn't get into nullsec until after a whole lot of PvEing in highsec and wormholes. Should the conclusion be, OK, maybe in a year I can finally be ready for nullsec...

If it's supposed to be inspiring rather than persuasive, then it's just "I'm having fun." and the guy can tell a way better story just by going into real details about some of his ops. Although you're telling in either case, you should still strive to show and not tell. Try starting with "This one time, in nullsec..."

I too wish i had no life so that i could live in 0.0 all day. unfortunately i have a job, a life, and beautiful places to go hiking in.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Op, your avatar is terrifying.

Oh and wormhole space is so much more fun. No reason to spur discussion shall be given.
