Well, we'd certainly know what next year's tackle frigates would be rigging with....

Who cares about penaly of that kind when with your shortest range weapon (Pulse) you can hard hit stuff from over 40km??

Well really, i dont really think of anything else to nerf that wouldnt hurt worse, and you are incorrect in assuming the sig radius does nothing, it prolly adds a good 5% to added damage, as turrets hit better, and missiles do as well resulting in more "good" hits and raw damage (assuming your not using say frigate weapons on a BS, in which case its moot anyway)
and it also takes approximately 3 nanoseconds (exaggeration) to lock anyone with shield rigs, which is also a penalty, because they will always shoot first, maybe even by 2/3 volleys and this is ALWAYS, not just when they are at range like having to burn in range

i personally dont mind the speed thing since i always make it so i have a good close up warp in, i cant even remember the last time i had to burn for a target

Thing is that the armor rig penalties are fine, EXCEPT on ships that are using blasters, its the "getting into range with blasters" that is nerfed too much by the rig penalties (I know there are other issues with blasters, but this thread was about the rig penalties right?).

So how about adding a buff to Mag Stabs - that counteracts the armor rig penalty? Only problem as I see it is that it makes the gallente ships 1 dimensional - the only way to fit them will be trimarks and mag stabs (but at the moment they are 0 dimensional - only way to fit them is to fly Amarr)

Just thinking outloud during DT - realize that the 2 minutes thought I've given this might be inadequate :)

I disagree that any of the issues in this thread are directly related to armor plates / rigs. Sure they have their downsides, but so do shields and armor buffers typically have much more HP than an equivalent shield buffer.

The issue is with gallente/hybrids, even with these changes unless you made them flat out faster they'd still be kited by plenty of ships and they still not be viable in larger gangs due to travel time.

Blasters need more tracking and in your face damage, let them work to get there but once they are at 0 they melt face. To help this possible web bonuses, so they are viable in small gangs, they will never be viable in larger gangs simply because of travel time. The blaster ships themselves might not even need speed / web bonus if they did enough damage once they got in range it would be worthwhile to bring a DD / raper / ashimmu along for tackle.

Rails need similar changes to make them worthwhile / changes to large scale pvp so that long range fights are more viable.

Armor fittings are not the problem, amarr and mini have no issues fitting armor, it is clearly hybrids that are the problem

Capacitor penalty for propulsion modules? They've gotta push harder to get the ship moving?

Just an idea.

I actually really like this idea. It would mean the Deimos' bonus makes sense.

While I'm flattered by your support for my idea, I'm just not convinced the improvement is worth the effort. Generally speaking, such small changes aren't received well on the assembly hall -- and I doubt the CSM would bother making a point of it anyway.

It is hardly a issue if you can't be kitted or don't need to get in range.

Web strength rigs would be useless outside of suicide tacklers because it would weaken the tanks to far to still be competitive in solo and small gang combat.
