"Thukk You, Frill Me" Capsuleer Protest Event Must Be Stopped

As a non-capsuleer "baseliner", I would normally keep to my usual_channels, however, in light of the potential loss of life that may be inflicted if a capsuleer mob does indeed march on the Thukker Mix HQ in M-MD3B today as planned, I am here in the hope of appealing for the event to be stopped.

Why should some many people be put in danger for a simple ship redesign? Stop this madness, please.

Maybe they like the way it looks already, and wish it to remain that way. Just saying. Ship design is a factor in why some capsuleers purchase certain ships.

All three are very beautiful ships. Their shapes are deeply optimized towards their functions. They are the avatars of their roles.

This coming from a Gallente, whose navy uses ships that look as if they should have been consigned to the shifty second-hand ship dealer's lot.

I stand with my brethren on this one, the form of those ships is their function incarnate. No useless frills or bolted on scrap metal anywhere.

Blackbird versus Bellicose..... just sayin.

It is a symptom of madness that thoughts become uncontrollably disjointed. This can be encouraged.

The Vindicator, its not just another nice looking ship but it does what it was designed to do very well and that's to to melt any ship that has the misfortune to get under its blasters.

The bigger issue is how the hell a baseliner got posting access to the IGS.

As usual, CONCORD is useless and derelict in its duties.

He's been posting here for a long while, providing rather welcome news to Capsuleers about events that may escape our broader notice. I for one welcome him.

Oh, and I assume he has some sort of 'press' pass.

First it has to get in range, and I've yet to see the whales that are Gallente battleships close the gap at a reasonable pace without the aid of MWD or Afterburners.

To a capsuleer, the ship is often the self. Try to imagine a corporation arbitrarily deciding that your ears were just cosmetic flourishes and you could do without them. Then imagine that you have access to above-military grade weaponry and can use it at your own discretion without any justification being needed.

Yeah, there will be guns fired.

Tha analogy is terrible, mainly because almost all organic sensory systems to a capsuleer are redundant, including the body itself in some cases.

The instance of the missing frill is more appropriately described as being forced to have your eyebrows removed. They are truly cosmetic, as are the frills on a ship.

That's the point. Admittedly it doesn't make an awful lot of difference in your case, but must people look pretty stupid with their eyebrows removed.

If you're flying a Minmatar ship, I doubt it's because you're making a fashion statement. If the autocannons fire when you activate them, then what's the point of complaining about the lack of fish gills?

To be fair Eastwood, you're viewing things from the Caldari perspective. To us, functionality is beauty. The overall look of a ship isn't as important as what the ship is capable of. To us, if the ship is efficient and effective, it is a beautiful thing.

Not everyone has this same outlook. To many capsuleers, the actual appearance and design of a ship is a major motivational factor to fly it. If the ship is attractive in design and artistic in its motion, it is appealing. Neither preference is really superior because it depends on what the individual pilot is looking for in a ship.

I must admit my perspective, while flexible, does have a large amount of difficulty placing form above function. I understand your point, but it still winds me up when I see capsuleers of all creatures whining about how frilly their ships are.

However, my pride in Caldari ship building, as a ship builder and citizen myself, is not rooted in conjecture and posturing. Caldari ships such as the Drake are some of, if not the most, sought after ships in New Eden. And I will gladly invite anyone who wishes to challenge that to a Tea Maker's Ceremony.

My dear, poor cloning-addled capsuleers. You miss my point entirely.

Whether or not you agree with how your ships look is really not important. The protest went ahead and as a result, many ships were destroyed - undoubtedly some of them had crews. Figures aren't currently available to someone of my standing, but I'm certain there would have been significant, senseless loss of life.

Yet this very conversation underlines the desperate travesty of these times we live in. People died whilst you all bickered about whether a meaningless structure should be considered ears or eyebrows. Who among you raised a finger to stop this?

I despair of my own species and the direction it now takes.

Truly, you are mad gods, one and all.
