temperate planets?!

how can a planet be "temperate" in a completely alien environment? were these planets terraformed by the empires or the terran? how are there lit up cities on the alien planets? i just dot find it viable that there is a planet like earth in most solar systems in this cluster countless light years away from earth

Blod-red skies, strange beings, and the number 514, often written in blood.

You do realize that part of NASA and space organizations activities around the world is using the technology we have and develop to find earth like planets outside our solor system?

Sorry if seems I'm being rude. not trying to just asking. CCP is going on the idea that there are other planets that are earth like. and if you look around the lore you will find mention of terraform of planets and even Caldari prime was a terraformed planet i believe that wasn't finished before the eve gate collapsed. But yes some planets were terraformed during the period humans came to New Eden and some were finished being terraformed after Humans got back into space i believe if I'm remembering the lore correctly.

These temperate planets are exactly that (and hence similar to Earth) because they are sitting within the habitable zone of a star. Their "environment" is still space. And still around stars that follow the exact same laws that the rest of the universe follows.

Keep in mind some temperate planets are at odd distances from the sun to really be habitable, but this is because no developers have really sat down and corrected it in-game. All the planets were randomly generated.

But some planets were terra-formed, others will be natural. Even in the modern world we can more or less deduce that there are habitable planets out there. There are some very compelling examples.

Very correct about Caldari Prime. The air wasn't even breathable until after the EVE Gate had collapsed. Hence why they were literally reduced to "cave men" on that planet during the dark ages.

My thoughts on earth like planets is that they could in my theory exsist in natural space depending on the size on the planet, the size of the sun, and the planet's distance from the sun. Say for example a star that is hotter then our sun. Then the planet would probably have to be further from the star. or a Planet larger then Earth could be closer or further from the sun depending on how fast it was spinning could maybe allow some form of life to develop. you never know. of course this is just my thoughts on the matter.

Well yeah, that's how habitable zones work.

Some were terraformed, some were not. Matar for example was a natural "paradise planet", whereas previously mentioned Caldari Prime was a frozen hellhole for hundreds of years, and still largely isn't the most pleasant of planets to live in (but hey, it's home; As some would say).

Lit up cites? Well, the planets are colonized. Temperate planets would be an obvious choice for colonization. As you can see, even though a planet is classed as temperate it doesn't mean it's necessarily all that earthlike - a Matar year is 1357 days long, for example, and experiences an almost perpetual summer.
