Issues, Workarounds & Localization

Ladies and gentlemen,
After about three weeks of working on the Intel integrated graphic's issue found a solution on not one but five laptops. (If you have this issue you know of it as normally anytime you Jump, enter a Worm Hole, Undock, or Dock the screen flashes black and then gives a nice message saying that the Intel Graphics driver has stopped responding/crashed and recovered successfully.)

I know there are several post about this issue, and a few include work arounds using alt+tab, alt+enter, or rolling back to previous drivers. I also know several people are still complaining that their issue has never been resolved. (I should have kept track of the links and replied to one of the various post, however I did not and would like to avoid unnecessarily wasting time.)

I recently acquired an Acer 5742 laptop with Intel HD graphics, and was not impressed when my first attempt at Eve was blotched with a "disease" causing my graphics driver to crash. Three weeks of digging, testing, failing, ignoring the "stop-gap" spam this button fixes and working for an actual solution I'm happy to say it paid off.

What I did was update my Bios, then updated my drivers from Intel.

Forty-eight hours later with no sign of the previous problems from my graphics card, running at much higher settings pushed me to start making phone calls. This brought in four more computers, two were Hewlett-Packer dm4-1160us, and two Toshiba Satellites. After re-flashing the Bios and then updating the Intel drivers every laptop ran Eve with no graphic problems to speak of. Hopefully this is not a localized fixed, and will remedy most user problems with Intel graphics and Eve.

Another note I would like to point out is I've noticed several people do not have the Correct driver for their computer installed. If your display is marked Standard VGA and not Intel (insert integrated graphics name) your drivers arr not installed correctly. (Two of the machines I worked on took time and effort to find the correct download from Intel, as the "Download Drivers" page from the manufacturer did not work.)
