but ships that are hard to blow up and inexpensive, engage in PVP and learn to do what the other guy does. you loose ships but gain experience

I never thought I'm gonna say this, especially with all the goon hatred going on, but I agree with Tarsus (and Pipa and few others). If you want to go into the null sec, go there. The sooner you get blown up, the sooner you'll get your fear of death out - and there's no better way than to take a cheap frigate or fifty and nag 0.0 people with it.
