What keeps you from PvPing?

What keeps me from PvPing:

  1. "Afraid to lose my stuff" (rather, I don't have the budget to replace stuff I will lose)
  2. Variable play time. Just because I'm logged in doesn't mean I'm sitting in front of the computer paying attention to the game
  3. I really don't like the idea of logging in because someone told me to, or expects me to, or because I have some kind of quota of kills to achieve each week in order to have access to the space I'm living in
  4. Most people don't like fleet members who go AFK two or three times during a one-hour roam

One day I won't have a job. Then I'll be able to focus on the game long enough to get into some serious PvP Lol

(oh, there's also the PvP that happens to me, such as suicide gankers failing to blow up my astrometrics frigate while I'm on autopilot with 20M ISK worth of probes in my cargo bay. Whoops)

Well, the barriers are many. For the most people, Kisumii had it right:

And some might say, that's easy to fix. RTFM, learn, keep trying, read, etc. But sometimes people don't have the time for that. People have jobs, some go to school, some have families and some play other games. So I'm gonna add a barrier here:

* The Time Barrier: No time to learn how to PVP.

I just don't think pvp in eve is fun, the time it takes to find a somewhat even fight in eve while not getting blown up by gate campers, makes pvp in eve seem like 95% preparing to have fun and 5% having fun. It has nothing to do with loosing ship, sometimes me and a couple of friends decide to go to low-sec and get blown up, and loosing 2-3 ensured battlecruisers is no big deal.

I think eve is the only mmo i have played where i did not primary pvp, but then again eve is also the only game i have tried where is is actually fun to be a businessman :)

Eve Pvp is just not casual player friendly.

I log in about once a week for a couple hours, and often don't log in for 3-4 weeks at a time.

How much more casual could you get?

Try RvB. If you dont want your main there, simply just make an alt and have fun with t1 frigs.

Is not just login time Akirei. EvEmon time, Forum Time, evefit time, dotland time, singularity time, etc. You can't just login, strap whatever modules you have in hangar and go fight. You need to do your homework. And that takes more time than a casual player has.

False.

What you actually need to do to get into PvP:

Undock

Shoot **** (that people own)

You are now PvPing.

You mean to say "What keeps you from fighting?" !

PvP is not an acronym for combat !

Yea, it's the first online game for me I didn't pvp in as well and I didn't think I would get into business either. It's a bit weird, instead of using your best "gear" you have to go for cookie cutter fits and leave the pride of your earnings demoted to pve duty.

Ship to ship PvP ? Available time. Can't really PvP much when all you have is 15-20 minutes now and then followed by hours of not being able to pay any attention to the game even if still logged in.
Although, I do PvP in non-ships-in-space-vs-other-ships-in-space fashion.

"Sure... just shoot. What's the worst that can happen? I'm in a merlin you silly carebear."

And the when the carebear bites the bait:

Option one: Remote repair alt starts repairing merlin.
Option two: Merlin pilot warps out, changes into hurricane.

It is not as easy as undock and start shooting. Don't be silly. You have to do your homework.

I tried the PvP life. Didn't care for it; too much risk, not enough rewards.

I don't sit in a huge alliance that can hand out spare ships as if they were spare change. The loss of a ship would be very significant for me at the moment and set me back too far.

And of course, my implants. Dear God, my implants...

if the loss of a t1 frig sets you back too far, i feel bad for you.

I'm not really trained for Frigates. It is all Battlecruisers and up. Anyhow, even if I were to fly Frigates it would still leave my Pod at risk and as such my Implants.

Losing pods are not something that happens everytime you died tbh. Most times I ever had to lose my pods were from bubbles or bombs.

This so hilariously wrong and full of assumptions. I've never baited or used neutral reps. Nor have I ever used the term 'you silly carebear'. I'm actually pro-bear. If you want to play that way that's cool by me. But this kind of attitude knocks my respect for 'bears down several pegs, to be honest.

I log in get convos, members asking for stuff.
The Ceo needs something done, somewhere something went offline and needs onlining.
Once this is all done, I join a fleet, wait for the FC to sort his things out, wait for people to join the fleet...and wait....and wait....wait for Titan to bridge...wait and wait.

Then I log off and go to sleep.

Show me where is it casual friendly ?

This is the hella sweet thing about EVE. If you have a problem with your situation you can move to a Corp that can facilitate for your needs.

Wrong corp/alliance perhaps?

I feel more and more lately like a lost of the big, general complaints about EVE boil down to the poster actually just being in corp/alliance that's a bad match for them.

Do another form of pvp then. Fit a frig and head to lowsec. Organize a small gang with your corpmates and go to hostile nullsec. Or as i said, join RvB with an alt.
