The Order of the Black Dagger is proud to present our new PvP Quick-Start Guide.

The guide is designed to teach a new or intermediate PvPer all the things they need to know to correctly configure their client, voice comms, overview etc. for PvP in the minimum amount of time, while teaching them the bare-bones essentials needed to be able to keep up with and contribute to a PvP fleet.

The target audience is pilots new to PvP, as well as people who need to teach newer PvPers quickly such as: FCs who find such pilots in their fleets, and recruiters who invite newbie PvPers to their corporations.

The guide can be found here: http://evedaggers.com/Tutorials/pvpquickstart.html

We hope this will help educate and encourage those new to our preferred playstyle: shooting whatever isn't blue. Twisted

The guide is subject to improvements in the future, so if you have feedback, notice errors (gogo grammar nazis!), omissions, or would simply like to suggest another guide altogether, we'll gladly take such responses under consideration, both in this forum thread and via ingame mail.

Enjoy,
- Jessie Arr, CEO, Order of the Black Dagger

Who, me? I would never do any such thing. I am an innocent flower of a Brutor. Lol

Looks good! I didn't notice anything about saving the overview after it was set up. It might be good to be a bit more specific about what yellowboxing is, as well - I've seen a lot of confusion in some quarters about it (some people seem to think yellowbox means someone is attempting to lock you and red means they've locked you, or I don't even know what).

There's also an encoding error or something in your Mumble guide - the fourth sentence has "&auot;" in it.

It looks like a nice and quick introductory guide that covers a lot of important things. :)

Thanks! Corrected the error in the Mumble guide.

I also changed the wording for yellowboxing: "When someone finishes locking you and can fire on you, a yellow box appears around their ship in your UI."

Thanks for the feedback!

I thought this guide was excellently written, and contains solid information. It is perfect for me, since I'm still very new to PVP and the game in genera. Thumbs up from me, I will be passing this along.

Could we maybe get this in a nice offline pdf format? Oh and the contact javascript link at the bottom didn't work for me.

It is a symptom of madness that thoughts become uncontrollably disjointed. This can be encouraged.

Will look into the pdf format, though I'm more familiar with web design than PDF design, no promises :P. The contact link at the bottom is an ingame link that pops up my character's show info window so people can contact me while reading ingame. Smile

You might consider adding some extra emphasis to the distinction between redboxing and yellowboxing. We've both lost kills and died horribly because someone wasn't aware of the difference and called that they were redboxed when they weren't.

You also might consider elaborating a bit on tackle, warp core strength, and the difference between pointed and scrammed. (Yeah, it's basic, but this is supposed to be for people who have literally no idea what they're doing, right?)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into the wording in the terminology section, I should be able to reword it to clarify between these. Smile

Nice, also liked where it said:

I'm not explicitly opposed to the "Remove Local" movement, actually.

But on the other hand there's always Wormhole space.

In the meantime I'll use the tools available to me Smile
