Hi,

I've been doing level 2 missions with my arbitrator while I wait for my skills to raise in pilgrim so I can go PVP. I am mostly training combat skilsl right now, and I'm a couple hours from Drones V. After that I will train Scout Drones V which will be like another week, so I have a lot of time to mission. I'm having troubles though because since I'm a pilgrim build, I don't really have the skills to fly great mission ships. I can mission in my arbitrator, but it's super slow, and I'm starting to find that I need to warp out like 4 times to repair to finish a mission. Basicly drones are 100% of my damage, and I just put a 1600mm plate and a med armor repair to tank it. Note: I also have a cloak since I like to mission in null sec.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how I can successfully mission 2-3s with basicly the skills I have. OR If anone can give me advice on a setup I can use to rat in 0.0, that would be just as nice. I need something to do while I wait hehe.

Thanks,

Lex

You'll want to get Hull Upgrades to 5 in order to use T2 armour hardeners, and Tactical Shield Manipulation to 4 to use T2 shield hardeners. At that point you'll be able to shield tank or armour tank your Arbitrator/Pilgrim/Curse as you deem fit.

I run all kinds of nonsense fits on my arbitrator, simply because there's nothing much I can do with the ship to make it run missions faster:

Low:
2 Hardners
1 Medium Armor Repairer
1 Overdrive Injector

Medium:
10MN Afterburner
Stasis Webifier
Drone Navigation Computer
Recharger II

High:
2 Medium Beam/Pulse turrets
2 Drone Link Augmentors

Rigs:
Whatever is required to help you fit the rest of the modules to the ship

Drones:
5 medium drones
5 light drones

Tailor the hardeners and drones to whatever you'll be fighting. Get to T2 tank as quickly as possible.

Get aggro with your turrets, launch the drones and have at it!

I wouldn't recommend that you jump straight into Recons as a newer player. Find your self a solid Battlecruiser fit and mission in that instead, it should run lvl 3's no problem. Also, make sure to use the mission guides to make life easier.

Find yourself a decent Corp or a good channel to hang out with for advice. You'll learn more in a week flying with older players than a year flying with other newer players.

Hit me up in game for fits, questions etc or if you are looking for a PVP corp that does a good amount of PVE.

To fit a Recon properly you need Recons to at least IV, preferably V. If you go lower you will find that a lot of decent fit simply doesn't fit. So considering that, the above is good advice - I'd start out with a less demanding ship while getting on with your goal to Recons.

For null ratting I'd look at battlecruisers at least. Check out a well tanked passive Drake for example. (When bored I've ratted in a Cynabal (the poor thing) or a sniper HAC which works "well" too Big smile even if not a new player friendly tactic).

+1 - Agreed, get a battlecruiser if u want to run missions and train for a battleship so you can move on to solo lvl 4's.

You should've trained drones to V way before cruisers V. Cruisers V gives you 10% more drone damage. With 5 instead of 4 you get 25% more alone. After Drones V you could quickly train some levels of Drone Interfacing which gives another 20% each.

I'd switch the plate for mission specific hardeners. Plates are more of a pvp thing. Make sure you have an afterburner to dictate range, especially for lvl 3 missions. With good skill levels and knowing what you're doing you could do almost all lvl 3 missions reasonably fast in an Arbitrator.

For ratting in null sec I found a cruiser to lack tanking ability. I'd advice investing some time into training the BC skill. All else equipment and skills needed would be the same as for cruisers.
