CCP is balancing barges, along with every other ship in the game. They are effectively throwing miners a bone. Many miners will not take that bone, rather continue with max yield setups, get blown up and then proceed to whine.

Anyway OP, gankers target miners because miners make it easy. There are methods to avoid ganks. Some make you reasonably safe (tanking) and others make you safe to the point where it is nearly impossible (without a team of gankers working together) to get you.

If you mine aligned using multiple BMs, you can warp off before the ganker would even finish their warp into the belt. In fact you would have enough time to check what ship type they are (T2, not likely to be a gank, same with frigates, and most cruisers).

The tools to be safe are already there. Use them.

OP,

Because mining would get even more boring than it already is if we didn't have to worry about gankers.

True, but EVE isn't Real-Life now, is it?

Besides, I'm pretty sure I've read in the lore that CONCORD are only there to "punish Capsuleers who commit acts of violence against another", not "prevent Capsuleers from being pricks". The best thing you could do if you want to avoid being ganked is to actually tank your ship. Even a halfway decent buffer-tank can increase your chance of survival. Alternatively, mining in a Rokh can also prove lucrative, and as we all know, Rokhs have better tanks than Hulks (and can reach a pretty awesome yield too, without sacrificing too much tank)...

CCP shouldn't be held responsible for what happens to your ship. They have better things to do. Really. If you can't handle the ganking, suck it up.

Edit: The forums ate my post, so I had to re-type it all...

I think OP is a troll, but if not, u might as well realize that games and game mechanics are not rationalized by real world examples? The game company mainly wants to make profit, so as long as they do they do something right :p

True, but my point is they would make much more if they were to consider this possibility. When you are new to a game, you want some reward for your time.... Not the potential to lose it in a heartbeat. I guarantee lots of people quit because they get ganked one too many times and get fed up with the BS.

Why stay in highsec with all your skills and awesome ships to pick on the vulnerable and new folks. Exploit them. That really shows how awesome you are at the game. Makes you so much better than the new guy.

They pay their money the same as you do, they should have a voice too.

U have clearly no clue about the current MMO market, nearly every themepark MMO out there is going free-to-play after they failed horrible. So tell me why would CCP change a system that granted them a very solid income source for the last 10 years?
U might not like the setup and "promoted" gameplay mechanics, but CCP is anything but stupid enough to change there holy money cow. They rather lunch a FPS on PS3 :p

What don't you get about a player driven game? The less npc interference the better. If you don't like it why not play something else instead of crying to have it changed to suit your needs. If all you wanna do is shoot lazers at rocks with no consequences and no risk, this isnt the game for you.

haha. is everyone trolling this is like 4chan with internet spaceships.

i wasted so much time messing with belts. utter waste. get in some security missions, smell the 'roids. no para spamming D-Scan like a methfiend either. it takes time and effort to be scanned down. see any probes on the go I would leave.

and of course, eventually mission earnings > mining.

forums.  serious business.

This thread.

This bloody thread. Again.

Seriously now, what is it with all these craven little crybears thinking that they can force their other-MMO-informed preconceptions onto this one?

I've never been able to find a straight answer from anyone about that...Roll

I was starting to go through this useless waste of bandwidth of a threadnaught, but then I re-read this:

@OP: You simply think/want this to be a game it is not. You are "guaranteeing" subs here and there and you know what? I guarantee the very reason EVE is what it is after 8 years is exactly because it is NOT working the way you want it to.

I love posts like this. Now I in no way agree with the OP, if you want safety travel in numbers but posts like the above make me lol.

Simply because the only cowardly part of ganking a miner is the ganker. Why don't you pick a target that can/will fight back? Because you are cowards. Now I approve of ganking people with a nice cargo hold and there is a chance at some real profit, but come on, if you are ganking miners you are in no place to call anyone else a coward/craven.

Before you go off on you auto flames know that I have no issues with people ganking miners, probably the only thing that makes it interesting for the miner, but don't go calling them cowards when you are the one attacking a defenseless ship. And defenseless means they have little to no means of counter attacking, not being able to fit a tank.

You call gankers cowards, then say in the next sentence that you approve of ganking people with a "nice cargo-hold."

Those ships are also not fighting-ships.

So are you having a schizoid episode, or are you just a hypocrite? I don't need to tell you which MMOG cliche you embody, now do I Roll

And yes, you can fit a tank to these ships. That these little whinge-babies choose not to is no-one's fault but their own.

In my time in EVE, people have tried to sui-gank my haulers exactly twice. Both failed, because my--about as non-combat as it gets--ship was tanked, the second time I warped in 50% structure.

Fitting a Damage Control II and effectively near-doubling your EHP with that one mod alone, that's too hard for these poor little snowflakes, so let's break the sandbox so they needn't worry about that at all!

Being unable to counter-attack means lack of offense, not defense. One does not imply the other.

Learn to English, learn to debate, and try not to be too obvious in your sanctimonious hypocrisy next time.

Next!

Actually I think you need to improve your reading skills.

I never once claimed gankers weren't cowards or even that I thought it was wrong to gank miners. I said that it is wrong for gankers to call miners cowards as they themselves are bigger cowards.
I also never said they could not fit a defense, I said my idea of defense is being able to defend yourself, not just being able to withstand a beating.

Seriously, read what is there and not what you want to see. Things will get better for you if you do.
