There is an imbalance with highsec POSes in that there are virtually no restrictions on the type of tower and modules you can anchor so you can have defenses designed to be able to defend against an attack from multiple capital ships in an environment where an attacker can only bring subcapital ships.

However I don't think it's a problem with the types of ships available for use in highsec, more that it's a problem of people being able to deploy structures designed to function in nullsec in highsec without any kind of restrictions at all. If an attacker is restricted in what they can use, the defender should be too.

I do agree the skill needs uses beyond V for Caps, but I don't think a Highsec dread is the right answer. A T3 /Tech 3 BS with around III for the skill would be fine, aslong as it isn't being a baby dread. It needs a role beyond PoS bashing.

I am looking forward for the battle ships re-balance coming in about a year.
The Barrage Ship like the raven should get a boost to DPS closing the gap between the BS and Dreads... Maybee a Siege option for the the Barrage ship might be an idea . Even a bonus damage of 50% would still be desireable droping explosion radius etc so it can't be used for ratting

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

You are saying the ship would be super squishy, Yes this is sort of true. The ship would certainly be more Squishy than a dread ( obviously ), However, the siege mod would boost its local reps, so even a LAR / XLSB would gain a boost to thier effectiveness making them ( once in siege ) not that squishy.


Dreadnoughts can field quite a beefy active tank, but it's the buffer and huge cap buffer that truly makes Siege viable. The local rep is barely enough to defend itself against less than half a dozen battleships, and the capacitor is susceptible to one Bhaalgorn alone. Usually if you're in Siege, and you are suddenly being targeted, most of the time you are just trying to survive on your buffer until Siege is over, and the carriers can rep you back up.

Using this analogy, your fancy siege ship would barely be able to hold up against less than half a dozen cruisers, let alone any small support fleet or POS guns. It would die the second anyone started attacking it, other than to solo ships - which is not the issue here.

POS guns are the issue.
The smallest support ships that consist of more than just 4 ships are the issue.

Due to what I've said over and over again, any kind of threat would represent instant death to such a ship. So it could only be used to bash undefended POSes, which in 90% of the cases means HiSec research POSes.

The point is, you tried to make this idea more appealing by jumping ahead and talking about graphics and how cool it would be like. At this point you are assuming your analysis of the need of such a ship is correct, the ship was taken into consideration, tons of time spend on figuring out the right stats and attributes for the ship, balanced into the rest of the game - and leaped to the graphical part - which for all intends and purposes is the most irrelevant thing here.

If you want to recommend ship models, do it in an unrelated thread without any strings attached to a ship concept.
