Watch lottery site lotteries in action. Soon as winner is posted send a contract to them with the ship they won but also in the contract they pay 1 billion isk. These dudes are used to getting lottery payouts and will not even read the contract if you name your char something similar to the site.

This is the best scam I've seen and I'm lol'ng at the douches falling for it.

I don't play the lottery myself as I feel it is a tax on hopes and dreams.

This is why I just take the isk payout on "those sites"

Not a forum alt.

I check every contract to see if it's correct.

No more, no less.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

This is actually against EULA, and I suspect the scammer is going to get a ban. You are not allowed to knowingly impersonate others. So naming your self SOMBER BLINK (instead of the real somer blink) is a ban-able offense. So in that sense the scammer is an idiot. It could of been a brilliant scam, he didn't need to impersonate the lottery. He could of just named himself 'winnings', or hell I am sure he would of got just asmany marks if he put up the contracts under the name 'This is a scam'. Shot himself in the foot impersonating blink when that step was not necessary. The victims are not checking the contracts anyway.

First problem is, it's not folks named after toons from somer doing it :P Just be any old random person, make contract, get isk...
In the grand scheme of things... You're all pubbies. So HTFU. "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses." - Elwood Blues

No one said anything about impersonating the lottery site...

your not impersonating anyone by sending a contract to some one... just cause it happens to be the same ship or item they won.

your just winning at the natural selection game if the gumba at the other end of the interwebs just accepts all contracts after a good night on blink.

Edit: Look at somer blink's ingame channel and website they have huge things posted to warn people to watch out for scammers. so they have been warned, if they accept contracts without reading them is their own damn fault.

There is actually a couple people with names SOMBER BLINK, SOMER Biink, etc. I think those people may have crossed the line and may see some repercussions. Then again I don't work for CCP so maybe not, but it seems to me that is impersonation which is against the EULA. Either way I don't care, I have no vested interest in it.

We had this happen to a few clients also, and also had our top clients spammed to death with offers for other sites.
There was one simple fix, and that was removing our clients names from our casino site.

This, however, gave us a new challenge, because its kinda hard to verify to customers that its not a scam site, and people do win when all you can see is "Someone one X mil, Someone won Y ship", but instead we refer our clients to post feedback on a forum entry. At least in that case they can decide if they wish to be named. Which most don't.

I can't blame scammers trying every single trick in the book, that is within game rules. I even had a guy create 250+ toons (recycle) to gain the coupon codes. Never expected anyone to have that much sparetime.

But only one fix, have the sites not advertise their winners, and let people play in privacy. But that makes it hard to grow your business :-(

Show their name and reward AFTER they actually collect it. No scam possible here.
