Hi guys

2 quick questions

If you want to buy a heap of commodities in jita, is the only way to avoid playing the 0.01 isk game to place buy prices way above the current market? I'm looking at buying large quantities so doing that would seem to eat into my profit substansily.

Second question, how does 0.01 isk battles on markets stabalise?

Cheers,

Blade

Mostly, you will get your items faster by playing the .01 isk game and if you place an order way above that is not of that big a magnitude regarding how many items you want, then people will generally wait for your order to fill.

What I like to do is put up a big order and check it every day or so. If it's in Jita, you will have your items sooner or later.

As to how they 'stabilize', I would guess they do when sellers dump of loads of items on the market to buy orders.

Nope. I once put up a buy order for a single 200mm Autocannon II and I got .01 isked out the wazoo. That order didn't get filled in a couple days.

When placing your buy order, you need to know what the minerall value of the item is, what the production cost of the item is, and what the min sell price is. If you go over mineral value, you cut out a section of traders. If you go over production cost of the item, you cut out another section of traders. If you go over the sell minimum, you've just bought what you needed, congrats.

Once you know the costs, and how much profit you're willing to accept, then you can decide on which strategy works best for you. I personally 0.01 isk, and check my orders randomly throughout the day. If i was station trading, or using the items for manufacturing, i'd pick a different strategy.

Find someone holding a stack of the item you want and deal directly.

This is why a large portion of trading in Eve has nothing really to do with the market window. It is about the relationships between traders. This doesn't mean you'll get away with anything cheap as you will pay market prices. But it can allow you to avoid the whole 0.01 isking game.

I also find that, if your buying minerals, put an order you want to buy them at then comeback in awhile and it will have been filled!

Haha when people do this to me I start pumping up the price. They 0.01 isk my one unit order, I raise it by 1% each time. More if they will follow.

I'll take the small hit on one item if it punishes an idiot over many items. Sometimes I will even put up large orders to get others like this to follow suit and update their large orders and have the buy price raised by 15-20% for a week or two. Then I cancel my buy orders and eat the broker cost and just buy my single item from a sell.

I despise 0.01 isking and I always happily raise my buy-orders by 10-20% even if that comes at a minimal profit margin. Blows competitors out of the market at least. Time is money.

This.

Even large orders can be filled with ease in Jita despite 0.01 ISK wars this way.

In case prices are hiking, you can be sure that prices will recover during the AUSI time zone.
If prices are about to fall you get your order filled very fast anyway.

Forget buying large orders using buy orders. The Bulk Trade Mailing List is the only way to do it. No .01isk'ing, no taxes, usually cheap prices. Lots of people are making lots of isk selling that stuff on the market.

if I needed LOTS of something, id troll with 20 orders of 1-50 units jacking up the price like its not funny, wait for the bots to pick up the slack, get filled, keep doing it over and over till they run out of ISK, get banned or you get borred.

if by some sheer luck and chance they all kinda STOP then your order should be filled soon.

remember, being a merchant is not about being nice, its about getting what you want, the only factor is patience/not getting caught in a game.
