What's the point of an ALLIANCE tournament when 6 vs. 6 is the format?

I believe that the 6 vs. 6 format defeats the purpose of this tournament. For one, the fights are over far too quickly. For another, who cares about a hand full of paper frigates circling a faction BS. Might as well just have a 1 vs. 1 Faction BS w/ drones.

These alliances have hundreds and even thousands of players, trillions of ISK and the largest ships in the game.

Let them fight! No point values. Just bring X many ships. frig-titan. That would be interesting. There is also WAY too much time between fights. I've lost interest already. I've tuned in last week and this week, but the excitement has already expired. Not to mention the ridiculous points system.. Tell me in what universe not annihilating your opponent and getting the maximum amount of points is a negative thing and earns you less points?

I know the format changes later on, but I've already tuned out.

While I agree that if the time between matches could be sped up it would greatly improve the viewing experience I am willing to bet everybody involved feels rushed as it is.

Also, I fully support either increasing the amount of points available to use or changing the system to allow larger fights. I really don't like this 6v6ish match stuff.

i have some opinions of this new 6v6 format because i don't know it's just for qualifiers and is identical to previous years *falls off scooter, runs after scooter wheezing*

This is called "Every day life in Eve", people just bringing a ton of whatever ships they feel will win the fight in as large of numbers as possible goes on every single day in Eve, there's no need for a tournament.

And the format does change to 12-man teams next weekend, it was only six-man teams for the pre-qualifying rounds, which haven't even been broadcast previously. Complaining about the extra content they're broadcasting this year compared to other years seems kinda pointless.

i have something to add.

to quote the classics, namely AT2 commentator DJs Xman and Xod:

"on the left side of the screen we have ASCN in a crow!"
"on the right side of the screen we have BOB in a .. crow!"

...

"he's got rails on a crow, are you insane?"
"ASCN .. looks like they've just thrown this one.. in the bin"

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

So, because it's an alliance tournament everyone in the alliance should fight? Yeah, I could get on board with that, like in the football world cup where each team has its entire country's population on the team. Got to love 60million a side football.

What you´re asking for is happening in 0.0. It´s alliance+friends tournament.

More serious sidenote:

For one, the fights are over far too quickly.

You don´t know what you´re talking about (2009). Imo AT got better every year.
The first couple AT were a pain to watch. Almost every match lasted for the max time and the team which lost 1 ship lost.
So much repairing / cap- 'n shield-transfers were going on.
Ofc every Module and every implant was allowed.

Another good thing on the AT from nowadays is that everyone can participate. Some (compared to the ISK wars in the beginning) ISK still needed, but a lot less.

It´s a sport event:

BRING THE PILOT - NOT YOUR WALLET.
