Gates didn't have sentry guns, you spawned the other side in exactly the same spot every time, without a courtesy cloak, and there were no such thing as a flashy red.

LOLsplashdamage from torps

hmm what else, earliest memory is when the game started minerals were seeded at a standard price on the market, once that price started to move, all the miners took to the forums to complain Lol

5k PCU

good times.

Character creation was deeper, you started with ~900k SP and a few level 5 skills.

Oh and mining in a badger II was the ****.

Ohdeargod, mining in Industrials. I remember doing that :(

Ahaha yes the horror... the horror...

I remember when people didnt work out how to exploit the game so fast it was constantly broken. Having a bm folder of about 10k bms for gates from all angles was prob ground zero for the meta-gaming slaying this once proud gaming nation.

p.s they dont visit us much here in the care home (wh)

This, when you had to chose your bloodline, than your background, than your career. You started the game with a character with near 900k sp, able to do many things (even if not well) since his creation.

Back in my days the Vagabond was the fear of nullsec ratters. Solitary pilots that hunted in a cruiser faster than a ceptor were a common sight, both in system and in intel channel.

People did not use a station, they used a Deeeeeeeep safe. Big smile I think everyone was scanning the day CCP nerfed deep safes and pushed all those ships within scanner range.

How is a Wyvern like an Ibis?  Neither have a drone bay!

Oh I totally forgot about deep safes! That was really sweet. They should bring that back and adjust the item de-spawn timer so it's feasible again. Deep safes were a good way for small groups to get a foothold in null, and a good incentive to exhaustively scan a system Big smile

back in my day when I first started gaming.. mining an asteroid meant a white triangle that mined by shooting white dots. And the UFO Rat could instapop your ship with its own white dot.

EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,  There is however a catch...  The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks.

There was something called a "convoy" in which freighters w/ massive support would try to make it from null-sec to empire.

I remember those. My first time in lowsec/nullsec ever was as part of a convoy. Me in a week-old character flying a Caracal.

Hehe...when I started this character, I figured it would be a smart move to have as many skills as possible at low levels and no high level skills at all. Because skillbooks cost money and training time is free.......

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Paranoia was not so rampant.

When my first corp closed in 2006 I was only a couple weeks old in-game... and pretty lost. A guy on the Eve-O forums named Yggr (of Red Frog Investments IIRC) offered me and a couple other clueless noobs a chance to scout a convoy full of goods down to ISS Marginis station for pay. He sent me an Atron fit which I could skill for in time, which was cap-stable with MWD on (but, sadly, no weapons could be fit). Sent me a set of gate bookmarks too (as Warp To Zero had not been implemented).

When we arrived at ISS they put the goods on the market, including their ships, and began to return home in pods. But I'd had such a good time, I kept my Atron, waved them goodbye, and spent the next week tearing around null, weaponless. It was great fun just seeing how close I could get to the gangs hunting me and still survive.

Brought that Atron back home too. Most fun I ever had in this game.

Yes, because when I started playing desteroyers didn't exist. Only the mega-rich players owned the first few Battleship BPO's (and had worked together in large groups to save up for them).

I remember warping to an asteroid belt to see a guy mining with FIVE... yes FIVE Miner I's on his amazingly looking Thorax, I couldn't wait until I could afford to buy my own!
