If I wanted to do the math I wouldn't post in here. Obviously I don't want to do the math.... so about how many more kilometers will I be getting out of my rock sucker uppers and how much less cycle time and I looking at in a Rorqual vs an Orca. I'm looking for values in km and seconds... not percentage wise.

i think last time i had a rorq my cycle time was down to 104 seconds with a range of about 29km... that's from memory so i'm sure some one could correct me and post more accurate numbers.

Pyfa and EFT both allow you to apply fleet bonuses to your fits.

Given the average maturity level in this game, he probably will.

i like how people jump at posts where OP clearly states that he just asks out of laziness. you guys probably also like to raise your own food and sew your own clothes IRL.

I should buy an Ishtar.

No, but I am fine with paying other people to make food and sew clothes for me.

If the OP sends me 100M ISK, I will gladly write a detailed response. For 50M I'll throw a fit in EFT and give him a number.

The Orca boosts link effectiveness by 3% per level for Industrial Command Ships (15% bonus, or a multiplier of 1.15).

The Rorqual boosts link effectiveness by 5% per level for Capital Industrial Ships.

When active on my Orca with a Mining Foreman Mindlink implanted, the link provides a boost of 72.7734375% as per the show info window. So divide that by 1.15 (the Orca boost) and multiply by 1.25 (the Rorqual boost) and you get 79%. The range of a strip miner is 15km, 25.95km with Orca boost, 26.85 with the Rorqual boost.

The laser optimisation link provides a 32.34% reduction in cycle time on the Orca, so I would expect a 35% reduction in cycle time on the Rorqual. The cycle time of my ice harvesters when boosted by the orca is 214s or so. Thus under the Rorqual, the cycle time would be 207s. For a Modulated Strip Miner II, this would be the difference between a 180s cycle time being reduced to 121s (180 x (1 - 0.3234)) versus 117s (180 x (1 - 0.35)).

No doubt someone will point out that there are glaring errors in my maths due to not understanding the stacking mathematics or the mechanism through which the cycle time reduction is calculated. But this was free advice, I didn't bother to test it (and I don't have a rorqual to test it with, even if I had the ISK and the time).

Mining Foreman Link - Mining Laser Field Enhancement II (5.625%)
Mining Foreman Link - Laser Optimization II (2.5%)

Mining Director 5
Warfare Link Specialist 5
Industrial Command Ships 5 / Capital Industrial Ships 5

Orca Link Bonus = 0.05625 * 5 * (1 + 5 * 0.1) * (1 + 5 * 0.03) * 1.5 = 0.727734375
15 km * (1 + 0.727734375) = 25.916 km

Rorqual Link Bonus = 0.05625 * 5 * (1 + 5 * 0.1) * (1 + 5 * 0.10) * 1.5 = 0.949218750
15 km * (1 + 0.949218750) = 29.238 km

Orca Link Bonus = 0.025 * 5 * (1 + 5 * 0.1) * (1 + 5 * 0.03) * 1.5 = 0.3234375
Cycle Time = 180 * (1 - 0.3234375) = 121.781
Yield Bonus = (1 + 0.15) / ( 1 - 0.3234375) = (1 + 69.976%)

Rorqual Link Bonus = 0.025 * 5 * (1 + 5 * 0.1) * (1 + 5 * 0.10) * 1.5 = 0.4218750
Cycle Time = 180 * (1 - 0.4218750) = 104.062

Ive sold all my rorquals since they selling for 3 bill each now. But if you had to ask this question then you probably dont need a rorqual.

Most mining operations dont need one, but if your mining 5b or better a week then you need a rorqual and the orca just becomes a hualer. The bonuses on a rorqual go way up when your in siege. If your not running in siege which is costing you money then your better off just using a orca.

Its not practical to run a rorqual untill you get like minimum 5 hulks going.

Interesting to note here that, without fitting for extra range or using Harvester implants, the max targeting range for a Hulk is only 28.125km

A good mining booster will also have Information Warfare a few levels.

Hulk: 22.5 km
Long Range Targeting 5: (1 + 5 * 0.05)
Information Warfare 5: (1 + 5 * 0.02)

22.5 km * (1 + 5 * 0.05) * (1 + 5 * 0.02) = 30.9375 km

When mining in w-space I fitted my Hulks with a w-stab. Since I was mining huge asteroids, the reduced target range wasn't really an issue. I find in hisec range is more important with lots of little asteroids.
