Does anyone actually use the stock mechanics? If so, how?

I think it would be cool if there were a stock exchange for any corps that wanted to go "public." IPOs, pump-and-dump schemes, hedge funds, etc.

It would fit EVE really well, and generate a new "profession."

People have set up several stock exchanges. You could even set up your own NASDAQ if you ran a website and held the stocks in EvE in your holding company.

All the mechanics you need for a functioning stock exchange are there.

This is pretty much what I'm getting at. While BSAC, etc. are cool, I think this one of the few areas that should be moved from the meta-game.

Naked Short Selling says that insecure selling of Shares is the norm in RL as well.
