current new eden politics

a few questions that have been bugging me about some modern goings-on in new eden:

who is the current amarr emperor, or does jamyl sarum take his place?

is there a clear reason that the angel cartel isn't attacking on the same scale as the sansha? they have all that jove tech, and it is clearly stated that the domination's military is strong enough to keep the DED at bay

who is the current "president" (or whatever the gallente head-honcho is called) of the federation?

How many tribes are there in the minmatar republic? not including the nefantars since they became the ammatar if i'm not mistaken.

is the syndicate considered part of the federation, or is it an independent political body?

thanks in advance to all the fiction buffs

Here are the answers as best I can give them:

1. Jamyl Sarum is the current empress and sole leader of the Empire. There is no Emperor.

2. There is no specific In Character reason. Perhaps the best suggested response is that unlike Sansha's perfectly coordinated armies of True Slaves, the Cartel does not have enough of a coordinated military to conduct widespread offensive operations (defending your space is far, far different from invading someone else's).

As an aside, CCP stated that when the incursion live events were beginning, other factions (presumably including Angels) were considered for the Incursion mechanics; however, the strong player response to the initial Sansha invasions changed CCP's mind and they kept it on Sanshas indefinitely.

3. The current President is Jacus Roden, formerly of Roden Shipyards.

4. There are 6 tribes excluding the Nefantar (3 playable - Brutor, Sebiestor, Vherokior - and 3 unplayable - Krusual, Thukker, and Starkmanir). The Starkmanir are the least numerous, having nearly been wiped out into by the Amarr in revenge for the assassination of an Amarrian heir. The Empyrean Age retconned a small group of surviving Starkmanir into existence, protected by the Ammatar/Nefantar. The same retcon also turned the Ammatar from being loyal to the Amarr, to some kind of secret, long-running conspiracy by the Minmatar to protect the Starkmanir... who wouldn't be in trouble for at least another 300 years. Somehow. Yes, this doesn't make much sense, but it does mean that there are some returned Nefantar in the Republic.

The Thukker are also still semi-independent, having only reestablished ties with the Republic in the last five years or so - prior to this, they were considered an independent tribe.

4. The Syndicate is NOT considered part of the Federation. It is an independent entity.

As an aside, I heavily recommend you check out the Evelopedia in the future - many of your questions can be found through Evelopedia's fiction portal.

You might say the Sansha have a particularly irrational interest in conducting their incursions. Where as the Cartel is slightly more rational, methodical and low key with regards to how it chooses to interact with the rest of the clusters' population.

More plainly, you could equally consider Sansha Kuvakei a madman hellbent on strategic self-immolation at the hands of New Eden's Capsuleers as funded by CONCORD and its members.

I'd also Argue that Sansha's nation is also much larger than most of the other pirate organisations.
