Just a thought....

Jita, Rens, etc are the most wealthy systems in eve. They also have the highest traffic.

Would it not make sense to add more gates at trade hubs to other surrounding sytem not already directly connected?

And just to throw some real contoversy to the subject.... economically would you not build regional size gates to reach to further systems... maybe even... (dont hurt me) other trade hubs?

Your thoughts?

We had superhighways between regions before.

They were an unmitigated disaster. High sec was utterly dead when you went more than 3 jumps from any "hub", low-sec was even deader than it is now.

So no its not a good idea.

To that arguement i would say to move incentive to the "outer regions" of high sec. Lv 4 mission agents away from the hubs for example?

Er no.

The classic example of how superhighways screw up the game is Rens<->Amarr.

Currently (from memory) its 20 hops or so via high-sec and 10 hops or so via low-sec. You can take a risk and save time or you can play it safe. Either way there is traffic through those systems.

So if you install a superhighway then you kill a LOT of systems stone-dead - apart from FW and occasional POS maintenance.

No use in going on about moving agents either - people moan enough about travel time to agents now.

Its a terrible idea.

If you scaled back (for example) jita by a gate or two that would fudementaly change its usefulness. However if you add a gate you just make life easier for travelers. The trade hubs are already set up why not make it a little easier to get there?

Fundamentally changing Jita's usefulness would be perfect actually, making it more useful, would ruin it even faster in the long run.

Trade hubs are organically created, but CCP does not want to encourage anything. Adding extra gates to speed trading among the major hubs just means that CCP wants to give these systems special treatment, which is against the whole sandbox/organic philosophy.
