I spent some time today talking with a few friends of mine ranging from other game companies, power company, cycle club all the way up to Microsoft and Blizzard (sorry for bringing these guys up Ugh). I asked about minutes after meeting and how long they usually take to be presented to those who were there and those who were not. Obviously the time frame ranges from just a few minutes after the meeting up to a couple days after the meetings if they are from a convention or few days and such.

When I gave them the scenario of what we have here, few days, NDA stuff, volunteer, out of country and such. Told them it has been over two months. The reactions ranged from laughing out lout to total and complete shock. All said that something was seriously wrong and there is absolutely no reason something like that should take anywhere remotely close to that long.

Six out of the eight I talked to said it was most likely due to massive procrastination. I asked if they would be so kind to do the minutes for CSM on the next summit and my favorite reply was, "It doesn't take a professional to do minutes in a timely manner. Only effort and planning."

Cool story and stuff, but there you have it. Don't believe me ask for yourself. P

So you talked to at least 8 different friends about the CSM summer minutes and how unprofessional it was that a volunteer group has not released a 200 page document after only two months of work?

First off, I would like you to provide me with the 50 pages of minutes from these conversations you had with your 'friends', I would also like you to provide direct quotes and then get each one of them to proofread, correct, and then each individually approve of this document you are compiling.

After you have done that, go and get some respect for the Devs and CSM candidates who are working hard on keeping us updated on the games changes. How many other games do you play where minutes are actually released from meetings between player interest groups and developers?

Finally, I would like you to go and make some real friends because your current friends are definitely imaginary.

Agreed. It's already been four hours, probably longer, since he's talked to these "friends", and we still don't have the minutes. Where are they?

I don't need a blog post just for me. I'm quite happy to wait for the minutes. (Besides, we have a weekly bedtime reading on AUTOZ TS3, where Hans puts us all to sleep with a reading from the minutes. I especially like the part about the moose and the squirrel. Wait. What?)

I hope at the end of the session, you come out and tell us all who you thought were the stars of CSM7 and who should not seek re-election. After all, if you decide to run again, you don't want to work with slackers.

As for the upcoming Town Hall ... wait two or three weeks, so that the entirety of the minutes can be digested, and opinions bandied about. Questions will be more clear and pointed then.

I don't care what they think about me. Over two months to produce minutes is unacceptable. What ever the bottleneck is, they need to fix it. Contract a professional for the days of the summit to take the minutes and a few days after to hammer them out while they are still fresh, 100% relevant and before people start going on vacation.

Oh well, guess I'm being too demanding. Is starting work on the minutes right after the summit is over out of the question? Instead of waiting till most of CCP is on vacation? And equally important is get rid of the dead weight in the CSM. Again, I guess that is too demanding/practical.

The problem is likely to be that this amazing document we're waiting for isn't "minutes" as most people understand the term.

66,000 words is something, but its not a brief summary of the positions and statements made by all sides at the CSM meetings.

Perhaps in the future you need to call it "a year in review" or "life the universe and CCP" or "my life in internet spaceships" and give the document the gravitas it so obviously deserves.

"minutes" of a meeting are generally brief summary documents listing participation and key positions. They are generally made available within a couple of days of the meeting taking place. This I think is what all the confusion is about.

CSM/CCP need to come up for another name for the huge weighty 66,000 word reports in the future.

(And probably also aim to release some actual "minutes" within a week of the meeting.)

I specifically refer to it as the Summit Report in a number of places ... but the name never caught on (especially with the CSM), so I eventually reverted back to the more favoured use of Minutes.

Summit Report is a much better name.

As bitter as you are, that was actually pretty damned funny. You should work on developing that side of your personality more.

When you are elected chairman for CSM8, will we see the minutes (All 200+ pages or whatever the count is right now) out 3 days after the first CSM meeting then?

I'm still not convinced that you actually read what they expect the minutes to include, so for me it's not about hate, or you being demanding or anything; It's that your butt is doing the typing, and it shows. If what the CSM and a few CCP people has said is true (The minutes are much, much longer than before and they primarily concern themselves with the winter '12 expansion), then I prefer this. You have something resembling the minutes you want (That is, quick outline and a few "we intend"'s) in Seleene's thread here, so please stop typing with your butt. You have the update you want in the time-frame you desire.

The timely minutes and then the longer report is an interesting proposal, worthy of consideration, IMHO.

Far better than what is currently happening. Also all information that the player base should know should in fact be found here in this forum. Not some blog found elsewhere. Don't you agree??

What is wrong with posting the information here on EVE-Online forums? So if he gave out the minutes in his blog, what are they working on now?

11K words do not fit on the forum. Nor can you post photos to the forum.
