People are going to talk smack that is just eve, this was the first engagement where it was a pure CalMil vs. Gallente without Snuff, NC., Amarr militia, any other friend. CalMil brought out an armor BS fleet into a fight where they normally lose fleets to the Gallente armor fleets.

All of this was with an FC that most of them have never followed beyond cruiser and BC fleets so taking out that much ISK against a known tough enemy with an FC you do not know well was a big stretch for them. I think the battle, while a success, was in all honesty a small part of the overall success of this fight. This was a huge moral booster for CalMil and showed them that they are just as powerful as their enemy and should use their strength in numbers to counter their lack of high skill points.

I would like to thank those Gallente militia members that showed up to the fight, regardless of the outcome it was a great fight and lasted a hell of a long time. I look forward to similar fights in the future.

Video of the fight

Nice video, but you edited out the response to the Nyx. I really wanted to see if you guys actually officially called NCDot or they just had spies :P. This was a very fun fight and a very good learning experience for us fighting without the "Jesus Blob". We have a very long after action threadnought going on our internal forums :) It's much more fun than "Gee guys, the squids have themselves a fleet. Watcha think? Blob them with Drakes? Yep, sounds good"

I completely understand what you are talking about there Mutnin, but since those are not qcats its really not relevant to my point. But no worries, I am already sorry I even suggested it. Every time I pwn someone in your corp I get a nice **** you in local in response to my GF. If that's how you guys roll then more power to you. Your not so bad, you just accuse me of having boosts and suchLol.

Have you ever seen smack talk that comes out of the mouths from Gals in Heydieles, Rakapas and Vlillirier? I mean I read every day that Caldari has nothing but LP farmers running plexes that it's never PVPers doing them getting fights or Caldari actually putting effort to control the war zone. Nope it's never that just LP farmers that win the war for us.

Please don't tell us about 10 year olds when I'm sure you know yourself how bad the smack is from the chest thumpers in those systems that wear the green jerseys.

How many times do you think I've personally listened to 10 year old diarrhea of local, from guys like Val Erwin.. Personally I don't take any of it seriously, but it's fun to push buttons of some of those with-in Gal Militia when they are so easily trolled. Blink

Nexx you get a big FU in local because you are part of insta locking gate campers. Youve done it many times that people just get annoyed and dont care. There are several others that do this.

Can you do it...sure...

Do we think its cool....no

Do we think its good pvp... no just a gank

We all agree you are a very competent pilot, but when you stoop to stupid tactics like that you will receive the big FU.

At least from my perspective...

This goes for the same guys that run around solo with their loki booster, slave sets, etc....

We love our $!^@$^-bag thrashers. We only do it because it's the only response to the previous SB mission farmers and now the stabbed plexing alts. We learned this from Fists of the Goat, which were a good Caldari corp back in the day. As soon as we stop seeing SBs and stabbed T1 frigates flying around, we will stop.

We "cool kids" wanted a fight , prob wouldn't of happened if we rallied everyone and wasted loads of time planning out a counter to every possible situation . I don't think a single person on our side was upset at the loss, at least I hope not. It was a LOT of fun and I hope we do it again soonSmile

Mithril Ryder wrote:

And they might have gotten help if any of the following were true:
Anyone besides the "cool kids" had any idea SOTF had a big fleet looking to take on you guys and had a workable plan (this is sadly normal)
SOTF/cats called for re-enforcements when the fight started kicking off or shortly before. (That is somewhat understandable, but knowing you are going into a fight outnumbered even with a trick up your sleeve, backup/cannon fodder is often advised.)
When backup was called for, peopel were actualy dragged into coms/fleet. (no one was pulled into fleet or coms, just a shout for "come to x!" (where x wasn't the system of engagement) )
When help was called for, basic intel about the engagement was given so the pilots could at least get in the right ship, and know what they were heading into. (no intel was given about either fleet, what to bring, etc.)

Many that could have helped, that have BS/T3/Caps ready in nenna, did not come. We didn't feel like taking ships blind, with no plan, no coms, and not in the fleet. Most that did go, took KM-wh*ring ships, or fast ships. Some of them managed to help in small ways such as killing small tackle/ECM.

tl;dr
better planning could have resulted in a better outcome, but what happened is not surprising to me in the least.

Hehe its fun to grief your bears, but tbh I never get that when using the instalock thrasher. . Hard to respond in local when your popped and podded before you even load grid :p And besides I only do that a couple of times a week because I have friends that love to do it. Is it Pvp? hell no, its a straight up gank, but its fun to do drunk off your ass :)

Smack talk is smack talk, you take it when you lose and you dish it when you win. Ehonor is a myth and if you notice after the fight there were a ton of GF's in local because it was a hell of a good fight. What many CalMil guys get upset about is when the Gallente hot drop 20 BC's on top of 3 ships then put GF in local. 20 to 3 is not a good fight its a gank so when you put GF in local its insulting and given that those guys just lost a bit of ISK tempers can flare, I am certain that the same occurs when the Gallente get the same treatment. That's EVE and I hate to put it out there but if you want to see smack go fight a real 0.0 Goonswarm fleet, those guys have smack down to a science. I truly believe that they can crash nodes with their epic amounts of smack. Everyone talks crap everyone gets it so either ignore it or move on. I knew for a fact if I lost that fleet that the smack would have been horrible, but I can attest that QCats are not one of the big smack talkers on the forums or in game so talking smack to them is a bit overboard just because they do not do it in return, most of the time.

As for the editing of the video I did not do it, however I am glad they did edit out some of the parts. No sense in posting a video detailing every command and shift that I did during the fight, can't explain to you in detail how we responded otherwise it will be too easy :) As for the response to the Nyx we had tackle en-route and would have dealt with it accordingly but what makes you think the NC. is the only thing we had ready for that super? To be honest once the triage carriers and dread were off the field we could have just taken the fleet over to the Nyx and killed it ourselves with no need of assistance beyond CalMil but before we had the chance he ran off.

See you next time, GF and GL in the war. Oh and WBR are noobs, figured I would stir the pot a little :).

Ehonor is real and there are people/corps who try to adhere to the ethos of honorable space combat and expect the same from their corpmates. It's really just another way of saying that good sportsmanship is important regardless of the communication channel.

Aside from the occasional friendly jest, I'm not a big local smacker and tend to ignore anyone who comes off like a big tard. TBH, I have more important matters to attend to during the buildup of a fight or after one just finished that I don't have time to conjur up smack in with the other local tards. And quite frankly, there's alot of them in FW.

Incidentally, my personal observation is that the people who smack the most (via forums/ingame local) have the least impressive KBs. The ones who possess skills smack the least.

Nice BR from Tek and Gavin. Would've preferred that's how you start the thread off and then you can epeen afterwards.

This.
I'll poke the stick for a little side humor when it's called for, but in the end it's just a game and I come to EVE to get away from all the smack talk and such. Not read it in local.

Yes, I probably could have formed a 60 man fleet had I gone looking for Xs everywhere, however I didn't think the caldari would have fought if we had that many and I also had no interest in spending 1hr telling people how to properly fit an armour BS or explaining to them why a drake wasnt an acceptable ship in that fleet. So I took Xs from a channel with guys whi I knew would have the right ships ready to go (except one guy who was in a vengeance and was promptly kicked from fleet)
