*You* should reread, particularly what *you* wrote and how the conversation followed ; because picking a sentence of me and a sentence of you ten post before is a bit dishonest.

BTW, you didn't answered : when should active tanking be useful for ?

Before ASB, active tanking was used for : pve, bonused ships and frigates.

Now, ASB is the obvious choice for very small scale combat.

I think this work as intended, the price being some problems in the 1v1 to 2v2 range of engagements.

I'm not trying to take sides here, but your argument is fundamentally flawed on several levels. Active tanking should be viable in solo and small gang PVP. I'm not sure what gives you the impression that nobody active tanked in PVP before the invention of ASBs, but you're just flat wrong.

Either way, the real problem with your logic is that ASBs being the obvious choice for "very small scale combat" having repercussions on the "1-2 person range of engagements" is just stupid. By your own definition ASBs break small gang PVP.

And as you can see in the tournament, when number rise above 6, ASB are a lot less effective. In this range of engagements, you see logistic ships, and they are plain better than ASB.

"Bring more dudes" has never been an acceptable answer to "how do I counter x" before, and should not suddenly become acceptable now. If two people are out soloing and run into each other, it should be Rock, Paper, Scissors with regards to who wins, with obvious variances accounting for SP, fit quality etc. Right now, however, ASB fit ships are "Rock", and the only thing that beats them is a bigger rock, and it's just silly. Everything in Eve should have a weakness, and "10:1 odds" should not be that weakness.

And again, as I said, it's indeed a problem for 1v1 to 2v2 engagements, maybe 3v3. Otherwise, you stragglers or people not in position will be part of a fleet, and most probably with buffer tank, and you will not take any second longer than before to kill him.

Though, you now can take two or three stragglers alone, kill one of them and flee before cavalry arrives.

What I'm saying is that you assume *every one* will use this module whereas I think no one in a gang of a tenth of people should fit one.

So maybe the module is a bit too powerful, but I think it's not that much.

I underlined the part that's just mindbogglingly dumb. No, you won't. They'll tank you until their fleet arrives and then you'll die again.

Ed: Also, there are some super high profile solo PVPers up in this thread. High 5s all around!

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.
