How to fix the Black (or sometimes gray or white) Screen of Eve Death.

The fixes here have been collated from other threads. I'd particularly like to thank Invisusira and Vincent Athena for their postings in other threads. They've been extremely helpful.

Step One: Close Eve.

Step Two: Go to your "Finder" and then to the "Utilities" file.

Step Three: Open the "Terminal.app"

Step Four: Type in "defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES"and hit "ENTER" (This makes most files un-hidden.)

Step Five: Type in "chflags no hidden ~/Library/" and hit "Enter" This will un-hide the "hidden Library"

Step Six: Hold "Control" and right click "Finder" then click "Launch" or "Re-Launch" Finder will reopen with the hidden files showing. (If at first you don't see the now un-hidden Library look closely, it might be covered/stacked with another file. Just drag one away.)

Step Seven: Got to - Users/username/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings/

Step Eight: Delete the following files

core_char__.dat
core_public__.dat
core_public__.yaml
core_user__.dat

Step Nine: Restart Eve

I hope this helps everyone that has this issue. Maybe a Dev will sticky this at the top so everyone can find it in the future.

P.S. Doing it this way did not delete any of my settings such as Overview, how my GUI was arranged in game, or any crucial "ESC" button settings. It did, however, reset a lot of the "ESC" button items, such as the Eve startup movie, "Do you really wish to shoot this person?", and items in that particular column.

This worked great. If you are comfortable with the terminal environment, the only necessary step of that process is removing those 4 files.

Works great but it does wipe out a lot of settings. Luckily I just came back and didn't have a lot of settings.

Worked perfectly, Taken me two days to find a fix for this.

Thanks a lot. This needs to be made known to other users as it is unbelievably simple.

Thanks again!

Excellent post OP! Worked like a charm for me.

Just because I didn't want to lose my character settings, I did some experimenting.

At least for my problem, I only had to remove the core_public__.yaml file.

So maybe that will work for others as well.
