Exactly. I think we would all use it to make our ringtones on our phones something that Soundwave says. People everywhere will use Soundwave to let them know when they have a call or a text...

I liked the first two commentators, Raivi and Lazarus, and I think the first half was commentated much better then the second half. The other two guys... I feel sorry for Kil2 because it looked like he was trying to comment on the matches, while Zastrow appeared to just be babbling off on his own uninteresting tangent that had nothing to do with the fights, at least the new interface made it easy to see what was going on even without actual commentary on the match.

I think you guys are being harsh... Yeah, Zastrow may have made some mistakes but it's not easy talking live in front of thousands of people about what's going on on the screen. So he wasn't perfect. Big deal. I love to bash on Goons since it's the "cool" thing to do but I think Zastrow did a good job for what it was.

I think they were all great. You guys are spoiled :) Anyone remember Brienne? What?

Zastrow was probably the one who gave the least information about what was happening in the battle, but he was in my opinion the most entertaining while also being informative. I enjoyed seeing him and Kil2 arguing.

a few years ago (2010?) ccp hammer did the commentary for a single match. he is by far my favorite of all time (i wonder what this fit is....oh, im a dev. ill just check =) )

and yea, the vindicator jokes were terrible. really hoping for more of those =)

With the new interface giving you pretty much all the info you need, I don't think commentators /have to/ talk about what's going on all the time anymore. Having said that, Zastrow still has a long way to go to match DARIUS JOHNSON in terms of terrible puns.

Sorry but Kil2 was out of his game .. and Zastrov its useless .. terrible goonswarm jokes ..he's like a puppet .. Raivi did a great job , he should be on more ..he sounds a lil gay but he's great commentator

Hehe. He did actually. Day 2 was a huge improvement on Zastrows part, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the fights he and Raivi commented.

Now if only Michael Bolton III could be persuaded to actually comment on the match at hand instead of talking about other more or less unrelated stuff, it should be a good torurney. Lol

I'm glad we're broadcasting the prelims this year because it takes a few matches to get in the groove of being able to analyze the match while giving relevant commentary instantly, live. Today was MB3's first matches to commentate, he'll get better.

The commentary has been forced at times, good at others, and embarrassing anytime MBIII has been involved. The fact that I can sit on my alliance TS and we're discussing the strategic merits of which ship is being primaried and which is being hit with ewar while the official stream is nothing but jokes about terrible facial hair is a little sad. I muted the sound for most of the day.

The viewer has the advantage of being able to see all the wonderful new effects and team sorting on the stream interface thanks to the great work from the guys at the EVETV production team, CCP Veritas, and The AT team.

The commentators have the client and delayed version of the stream that is about 5 seconds behind. I also found that for some reason my stream was even further behind than this, like 20 seconds or something, likely due to my computer being made of wood. With only the client available, I was pretty flustered as I had practiced to cast from the overlay and during last years commentary I had never used the caster client computer. Other than that I had a match where I lost all my locks save for 2, and that wasn't fun at all.

I've gone over the videos of my cast for today and I have a list of things that I need to work on. I recognize that today wasn't exactly an all-star performance, but I hope that people will be a little patient with us. Aside from kil2, none of us have ever cast from home or cast these 6 man teams, so we are still getting comfortable.

You'll probably still hear about facial hair though. I think that laz has a pretty solid beard and kil2's stubble has yet to truly shine.

I liked the part where the commentator didn't even know you can't field flagships in prelims, or that the ship they did field wasn't their flagship anyway.

At least with the new UI I can just completely mute these nitwits and still get a good overview of whats going on

Commentators are supposed to entertain. Zastrow did that well.
