Legion Trained - So missiles or tech2 lasers?

So haven't done much related to amarr ships, but do know the tech3 cruisers are popular. So thats the direction this character was trained for.

Granted the Legion isn't the most popular but thats what I am starting with.

PVP/PVE like most people in EVE is the direction it will be going. So should I go the direction of Tech2 lasers so it can benefit not only the T3 but the other amarr ships. Or do I cross train into missiles to have a Ham legion, and then later cross train into the tengu?

Flame away or give some good suggestions.

As the training time isn't all that much longer to just be able to pilot a T3 Tengu (my favorite) and a Legion just
train both. As after you get used to the Legion, you will be happy that you can quickly step into a Tengu as well. :)

stick lasers on an absolution, missiles on a sac/tengu.
if you MUST fly a legion, stick neuts on it.
if you really really want to do dps and absolutely cannot fly any other ship, fit lasers.

Depends what you intend to use it for. If it's PvE, your main problem will be TD they field. 3 of them on you (it's not uncommon) will make you totally unable to hit anything. I've had to bring in an alt in a Vexor to help clear some exploration sites in my Legion!

Pimp fit Legion (pulses) is pretty good in WH but Tengu is the ship of choice for PvE. It's so much more flexible than the Legion. That's why I'm cross training into Tengu from Legion (maxed Legion pilot here). With missiles you also get to fly a whole load of other ships, so it's worth it for that alone.

For what it is worth, one of my alts has an overtanked Legion like this. I don't claim it to be a good fit, just one that is a lot of fun in EM-weak NPC missions.

Train both... I did :p

Lets face it. Training missiles is WAY faster than traing guns. Simply because they dont REQUIRE other skills in order to train them.

In order for you to train T2 medium pulses you need to first train your small pulses up to T2 before you can get the mediums. In missiles however just train the bare minimum of skills before going on to T2 version. Sure there are a bunch of support skills in both lines, but the faster one should be missiles.

I spent a lot of time training up all the gun skills so that I can use T2 everything, but in the end I think it was worth it simply because now I can fly just about anything sub cap and fit it well.

Yes, unfortunately there's a reason for that. Its pretty much the bottom of the T3 pile. Basically it always feels like you're missing 1 turret / launcher hard point and its subsystems are pretty lackluster.

Conversely, there's a reason everyone flies a Tengu. But really, any other T3 besides the Legion is a better bet. -.-

The PvE Legion > PvE Proteus. Fact.

PvP though completely and utterly different story.

The thing is, the other T3s aren't bad by any means, it's just the Tengu is far better than the rest in most regards.

Nerf Tengu thread?
