Lol, when I saw the blue dev tag on this thread, I knew it's Punkturis posting! Cool

I made this new picture within 10 minutes (left the previous face mostly untouched though). I'm quite happy with it.

It's either you being predictable or the other devs being predictable not to post here. At least not faster than you. I'm not sure what led me to the prediction.
Nice vacation to you!

Yes, when I could play on my wife's laptop. Now that it's toast, I try to avoid the editor whenever possible. As good as my pc runs the client in space, hangar, etc, it cannot handle the character editor at all. Simple changes take 20-30 minutes, and it took me over an hour just to make this toon without taking any time to really fine tune it. It's a shame, the Eve character creator is the most comprehensive one out there, and I love it, but I hate it when I feel like I need to use it.

I usually spend 30 to 60 minutes per editor session. I also tinker a lot with it so most of the time i am not creating portraits, just experimenting. I guess that the total time I spend on any "final" portrait averages to a couple of hours.

it took me a wile along the several full characterisations to accomplish my current look. i wouldn't say perfect, but i find it quite satisfactory. it took me several hours in each time i had a full character morph available, to reshape it correctly.

it is a nice, complex editor. a bit hard to obtain that "look" that you want, but with some work, you will achieve it.

too bad the background and cloths aren't composed by separate elements, that you could put together and colour at you're taste, which would add a lot more variety. a bit like the corporation logo that you can combine elements and colour them.

i might have lost around 2-4 hours each time i was able to make a full characterisation, in 2-3 times.

the avatar editor is so good, that perhaps it should have more options to customise the avatar. maybe by separating cloths models from they're colours and have a pallet of colours to choose from.

i can see me loosing more time with it, if it would be worth it.

Then it's a pity that you ended up with another slutish, inmature "look at my boobz" portrait. Question

I arrived in EVE just when "Incarna" was released. After creating a trial account based on an invitation i spent at least an hour with the character creator.

With keeping in mind, that this character somewhere in the future will represent my "digital me" in "WiS" and it might be unchangeable, i want it looking in a way i could identify myself with it.

I even biomassed a second (almoust untrained) character, because i was not satisfied, how he was looking.

Now - due to the last patches, every character has received a free "resculpturing". Sometimes, when my usual daily "FiS" bussines is done, i'm playing around with the character creator, but most times i abort it - i can't reach any improvement.
I think, i'll keep it for cases, where a patch will do harm to the characters, but i hope, it won't happen (again). Remeber the sudden "balloon problem" concerning the female characters? Big smile

TL;DR :

I think, CCP created a very nice character editor, and there's no reason for being ashamed of spending "too much time" within it, as long as you reach a result, which satisfies you.

I sometimes think that I should spend some time redoing/improving? myself, but then I always think, 'nah will play the game instead'

I just do not really care what I look like unless it would make me better at flying ships.

This is not a signature.

I'll admit to having played with the character creator a bit right after it first came out. For Wrayeth, I probably spent about 45 minutes gettig this portrait right since I wasn't planning to change it, ever, and would have to look at it constantly. I was going to a slightly sinister look and didn't want the perfect features you see on many other avatars without going the comedy route, so it took a little bit.

As someone else mentioned it is a pretty fun mini-game. Some people complain about Space Barbies but we have them, people. We have them.

And they're cool. P

Confirming this. Best expression i've seen on an incarnatar in ages, hands down.

I've probably spent a day or so total on Morwen's sculpt and portraits in the year and a half since Incursion was released (using the free resculpt tokens we were given when Incursion first launched due to the, well, massive mess that the editor was when it started).

I started with this, pre-Incursion.

When the first iterations of the editor were released on Sisi, I ended up with things like this or this. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed with the way the Intaki mesh was designed and the "horse-faced" look (credit for that phrase goes to GM Radiance) that most Intaki ended up with as a result. (Also, don't get me started on cheekbones. Just don't.) On the night before the editor was released to TQ (literally, I think with two hours to go) I came up with these two, and was pretty happy with them, all things considered.

And then Incursion launched on TQ. And with it, a bunch of stealth changes to the Intaki sculpting mesh. I went from something reasonable to something that made me want to vomit, it was that bad.

There were more changes overnight, and were given free resculpt tokens almost immediately. I managed to come up with something a little better, but still not quite where I wanted them. Errant cheekbones and oversized noses still hounded me. This and this were the best I'd managed by the end of that attempt.

We got another resculpt a few days later. This is one of the attempts I made, but I believe I settled on this one for that round.

I lived with that until Incarna was launched, at which point we were given another free resculpt. The end result was this, which has more or less been the base of my portrait since. My current is obviously quite visible next to this post. :P

I made this one on Sisi at one point (using what is now the female Sterling shirt available in the Amarr FW LP store), and was messing around hte other week and came up with this.

I think the end result came out well over time - a character that's intended to be a combination Gallente/Intaki using the Intaki base.

Ooo Fun. Well if we want to post an Avatar history. This could get interesting.

Iria ala Revelations. And I would like the old dresses and hairdos to make a comeback. Her face lookes alright when it is small, not so great blown up.

After we switched to the new editor I stuck with this version of Iria for a while. Then I got back from sea I noticed the resculpt and wrongly thought that the new morph ability was implemented. Oops.

This was my first re sculpt attempt. But even though I liked it, it seemed lacking somehow. My current avatar should stick now, although when the morph ability comes in, I'll give it a look to see if I can achieve something unique and good.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Thank you. One complement is all it takes to feel worth it. Actually, it was seeing Elena Melkan's avatar that made me realize I should redo my avatar. Her avatar really stood out to me.

Used it once for 10 minutes when it was released, then for another 30 seconds to apply my monocle.

If I wanted to change my look everyday I would go and play the sims.
