Hard not to be bored when one only perceives two possibilities in a sandbox game: "I must grind endlessly for it", and "I must buy PLEX to get it"

A Little Fable (Franz Kafka)

"Alas," said the mouse, "the whole world is growing smaller every day. At the beginning it was so big that I was afraid, I kept running and running, and I was glad when I saw walls far away to the right and left, but these long walls have narrowed so quickly that I am in the last chamber already, and there in the corner stands the trap that I must run into."

"You only need to change your direction," said the cat, and ate it up.

Eve used to be such an exciting game. For several years now, Ive ran 3 accounts, taking part in some industry, some pvp, some idle chatter, and enjoyed the 0.0 experience. Things have changed. I had worked (slowly) towards my Supercarrier, planning a pvp character with a carrier, and industrial character with the rorqual, and the super pilot. It was all within grasp, then BANG. They doubled in price. So now I'm sitting with 3 characters, but no goal. I'm not going back to ratting, I'm not grinding anything. I had reached where I wanted to be, was paying my accounts, and making enough to supply myself with some nice pvp ships as and when required. Now, I just log in, and 5 minutes later and log back out. This month, I'm not paying my subscriptions. The end of an era, and a sad one at that. I am not wasting my isk on 500mil Plex's, I am not grining another 10 bil for my super. The game has lost its appeal, so send me your isk and ill keep it, incase I ever come back in the future. Fare ye well and so long eve geeks

I'm going to be honest with you, I managed to buy a super pilot (with FB 5 I might add), a super and a holding toon all inside of 6 months.

Make money faster I guess.

I see a lot of mad in this thread and it isn't coming from the OP. If he's whining why do you have to join in and whine he's complaining about the game? Does it hurt your feelings when EVE is being rejected? Write a whine thread about it.

Solution 1

Send me one of your carrier pilots, I'll make good use to move my ships around and haul stuff. Then log off and cya soon Lol

Solution 2

Send me isk, biomass your characters and restart everything from 0

Whatever solution you choose, GL

If you were working towards it why did you not have the items put to one side as you were training for them. I bought two hulks about a year or more ago when they were 70 million each, I can only fly them for the last six months.

I have most of the items bar two for a kronos build near jita, I constantly watch the market and track prices to get the best deal.

You are playing eve long enough to know you should always play the long game
You only have your self to blame.

Don't worry, next patch (sometime around winter) when they introduce the new barges, more people will be mining, and mineral prices will drop.

Until then, with the constant miner ganks going on in empire, the mineral prices will just continue to rise.

so why post about it? Just go.

There is an extremely serious real world comparison with this type of behavior that I am going to largely avoid other than to say:

people that are serious just do it.
people that are looking for help dont.

I quit for about 3 months from feb to may. First quit since 2007. Did you read my quitting post about how bad the game had got? No you didint cause I didnt make one, I just did it.

There's your problem: a WOW-like view of Eve in which the path is to grind your way up to the "top." The reality is that supers are boring and much more fun can be had in subcaps. The best goals in Eve are experiential, not material.

Did it ever occur to you that you may just be tired of playing?? It happens. It is not because the game is now bad.

His morale like many is in the dumpster. Telling him to just leave is so far in the wrong direction it pains me to see it written. CCP has some accountability in this from Incarna til recent, a lot of die hard players are tired of a myriad of things. From mediocre "expansions", unnecessary forum moderation to the point of outright excessiveness, forced UI changes they don't care for, to war themed expansions that do everything one could imagine to stifle combat. I used to log on and see 37-50k players playing now I see usually 20-22k.

It isn't summertime blues its lack of confidence in the direction the game is taking as a whole.

EVE is a game that requires dedication. When people lose confidence in how the game will be in a year they question sticking around for the year to see what happens. When the devs were singing HTFU the game was expanding, they started singing im a barbie girl and play nice and the playerbase started thinning. Some of us maintain a sub because hope springs eternal but it isn't without limits and CCP will have proof of this revelation in the coming months.
