Computer Locks Up With Multiple Clients on Multiple Monitors

Just like the title says, whenever I run multiple clients on multiple monitors my computer completely locks up and I have to force restart my computer(hold down the power button or hit the reset button).

It happens in both Fixed Windowed as well as Full Screen modes. After I boot up my main character, I load a second client, and when I try to move that client over to one of my other monitors, it completely locks my computer up.

I run two XFX HD 6870s, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, Core i7 950 @ stock speeds, G.Skill DDR3 1600 RAM, and an Asus Sabertooth X58 motherboard.

**UPDATE** - No fix with the Augusth 8th patch. Still the same problem no matter how I setup my client.

Bump. Cannot play EVE at all right now outside of having to stack all of my accounts on one monitor. Same issue that started from the last biggest patch.

is your card making anything strange while the clients are freezing? like strange noise, spinning fast, heating up?

did you ever run a WEI? Any log from the ati drivers saying what happened? Are the drivers crashing too or only eve?

Yes and I just updated to the latest drivers that came out on the 28th, same issue.

No issues I can hear with my video cards. I don't know what WEi is but I have run the EVE Repair.

I can't tell if the drivers are crashing or not because it black screens on the monitor I move the client to, and then after 1-2 of my computer slowing down, it completely freezes.

Edit: Also happens in safe mode/windows mode. Already tested both Fixed Window and Full Screen before, both freeze.

i run 3 monitors from a single card without issue so its not an issue from the eve side of things.
only issue for me is the lag when running 4 or more in high graphics but i have no issues running them in low graphics.

Just posting so you know its not eve side.

So I go from absolutely ZERO problems pre-patch with over 10 clients at the same time on multiple monitors, to not being able to use any other monitors outside of the one EVE boots up on, and that's a computer-side issue?

I kind of find that hard to believe. If it is a computer issue, what would it be? My comp runs fine with LoL. I will test Diablo 3 and Starcraft II on different monitors after loading to test that. I have uninstalled and installed the latest drivers multiple times. I also have temp readings on everything that is important and I never see anything close to being any heating issues at all on either card, CPU, or my RAM being maxed.

Help is appreciated.

+1 for amd 7xxx cards having some involvement in this issue.

have this same exact problem running multiple clients. other games are completely fine, even when running diablo 3 and a single instance of eve.

i also have an hd7870, never had an issue with my 5xxx card 2 months ago.. i'm using the latest amd drivers.

its got to be something with the way the last couple of patches interact with the 7xxx cards. if other games were doing this i would RMA my card, but they arent.

it's that sort of hardware test windows like to run whenever you change anything on your pc, drivers included. Start menu - dx button on Computer - Properties - update of *stuff* needed. You should see this near that stupid number. It won't fix probably but it won't hurt as well, and it's something win really really wats to have updated. If it isn't, win will try to run it at the first system error detected, and if it won't be able to run it cause of any possible reason, it will freeze or crash your system.

its ATI issue.

Had the same behavior of computer freezing when running multiple clients on multiple monitors -> comp freeezd after a while.

Replaced ATI card with nVidia -> problem solved. Now, I'm just having nvidia driver crashes once a while but computer does not crash or freeze anymore.

Same issue. This started happening after one of the smaller Inferno patches although I do not remember which one. Worked perfectly fine when Inferno was first released.
