If that were true they wouldn't have had to patch it or launch a security investigation now would they?

Edit: actually thinking about it, CCP is always looking for a good isk sink. If they just remove the 5 trillion isk that will probably help the economy in its own small way.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

Forecast:

They will be keeping part of the gotten ISK. They get a temp ban which wont matter much since their alt accounts are still active.
As soon as the accounts that made the ISK are unbanned they go and wait for the next exploit to make ISK of.

CCP will make it look like they did an awesome job in handling it and a lot of Goon(alts) will be posting about how it's all working as intended.
A few people will ragequit, but since those are the "pubbies and spergs" and no Goons all is fine.

OR:

Small part of the ISK will get confiscated and part will be hauled over to alts. The characters in this affair get a permaban and the players behind them will buy new characters on the bazaar and still have a nice and hefty wallet result out of it.
CCP announces they permabanned the characters and comes out like heroes without upsetting the Goon players and thus they can have a cheerfull rejoice alliance wide.

Goonswarm and their fan base quitting in mass will be a slight hit on CCP's wallet, but the game as a whole will recover nicely and be stronger than ever. Of course half of what I said is my opinion. In all honesty though, CCP could take all the items and perma ban the entire squad of guys who were involved in it and not a single goon would quit over it. After all, this game is all they have.

Either you are being sarcastic or... you don't actually know anything about the Goons?

well yes, because they got the sums wrong not because the system was broken.

the system was intended to give you lp for killing things in FW, you got LP for killing things in FW.
how is that broken?

lol at people trying to claim this wasn't an exploit. Goons themselves basically reported it as a bug/design flaw and knew it was something CCP would classify as an exploit, then they went ahead and made use of it anyway.

As I said above, if it was working properly it would not be exploitable and require a patch now would it?

If it was working properly it would not need patching.

If you need to know why it wasn't working properly read some of the 200+ pages on this topic. I and alot of other people have repeatedly said why it wasn't working properly, or just look at the patches or CCP Dev's comments on the matter.

Or for that matter just look at the post that started it all. He very clearly describes what is wrong and why it was reported to CCP as a bug.

i'm not sure you grasp the subtle difference between the fact that the system was doing what it was supposed to do, however it was the magnitude that was the issue.

it's like a set of brakes on a car being very sharp. you touch them and the car stops; as intended. however if the sharp breaks cause the car to stop at such a rate the driver gets a cracked rib from the seatbelt as he's catapulted forward as the car stops there's clearly an issue.

the breaks are working as intended; they're stopping the car. however they're working too well as the car is stopping too fast.
just like the lp formula was handing out too much lp. the system was intended to give out lp, just not *that* much lp.

do you understand the subtle difference?

oh bugger it, ccp just need to hurry the hell up and decide one way or the other so we can all stop going around in circles. asteroid belts have respawned and now i have some thing better to do than go around in circles!

I agree a ruling would be nice (but they will take their time) it would save me having to say

A bug is a bug is a bug. Exploiting a known bug is against the rules and should be handled accordingly.

a bug implies there's an unexpected result to an action.

shoot ship, get lp. expected result to an action. *shrug*

I think the Goons should be banned just for being dumb enough to mock CCP over it, it's like smoking weed then going up to your parents or the cops and bragging about it, then getting mad when they did not appreciate your genius for avoiding their attention.

I don't know son.

My father was a cop (god bless his bullet ridden soul) and if I went up and told him I was smoking dope he would demand some.

My mother also once made me help her out with a recipe for hash cookies - true story.

Having seen this in RL with the stoner offering the cop a smoke. I must say the protests he made on getting arrested were as funny as hell.Lol
