Multiple Standings?

Hi All,

Just wondered really, do you guys do missions for one faction at a time or do your work for multiple?

I been doing missions for emperor for a while now and have a standing over 5.0 so I could in theory do 4's for them. Problem is, no Battleship so i'd get my ass handed to me, so should I move to another faction while I earning enough isk for a BS or just stick with emperor?

My logic was if i'm grinding for emperor while i'm already at a high enough standing to run 4's could I be more efficient in the long term by working on standings with more than 1?

Cheers,

Grinding exclusively for amarr will kill your matari standings, so you won't be able to fly in their space. If that's alright with you then continue grinding for one faction.

I would recommend working on all of the factions as it's nice not to get shot at in HS.

You will have access to more facilities with more varied standings, you will be a more "Flexible" pilot if you have standing with everyone. If you focus on standings for one faction then you won't be so flexible. It's entirely up to you.

Personally I'd grind up to 6.4 or whatever it is that you need for tax free refining and then think about changing.

If there is more than 1 L4 agent in the system(s) you mission in and they're different corps/factions then being able to run L4s from both of them would be good, so you could switch and grind standings for the other corp for a while.

However, be careful about working for two factions that are enemies. If you do a lot of Minmatar missions your amarr standing will go down for example. So dont change factions to the enemy only to see the standings you do have get eroded.

Minmatar + Gallente = good
Amarr + Caldari = good.

Hope that helps.

ty for replies, i was aware of the whole alliance amarr caldari etc, so rather than take a hit on one side by working both sides i'll stick to amarr caldari then prob turncoat in future lol.

It takes effort to get all four player factions positive, but it is possible.

Most people settle for two positive, and the other two greater than -5.

I do missions for Amarr and Caldari, so the Gallente and Minmatar are not thrilled with me, but they tolerate me in their space as I maintain about a -2 standing with them by also grinding Sisters of EVE (SoE) missions. The SoE are slightly negative to Amarr (-0.6) and Caldari (-0.15) but positive with Gallente (+4.8) and Minmatar (+1.5) so it takes very little effort to compensate.

After initially (and unknowingly) tanking my gallente standings, I can now do 4s for both caldari and gallente. Over time, you can learn to avoid faction standings losses. Also, keep declining those faction missions. Eventually, the agent will stop offering them to you (this works with any mission you don't particularly like).

It's much easier to maintain positive standings with all Empire Factions early than trying to repair very bad negative standings later.

However, you can always work the 'Plan' when needed in the future.

Picked up on something I may not have been aware of on the replies to this thread, if if I dont 'ally' myself with a faction militia, is it possible to get standings low enough via missions that I will be attacked in certain empire's space?

Yes you can get shot at regardless of being in the miltia

If you get to be -5.0 or lower with a faction then they will shoot at you when you enter their space

hmm....thx for that, so it may be worth declining gallente/minmatar missions after all then.

Also, does declining a mission affect faction standings or just individual agent standing?

Affirmative.

Just don't decline missions more than once every four hours with any one particular agent, and you won't lose standings for declining.

if you DO however decline before the 4 hour timer or fail a mission then the standing loss is to all 3 levels, with the worst of it being to the agent themselves.

Thanks, i've starting declining gallente/minmatar 'kill' missions and only doing recon ones in order to not hit standings with them, so far, luckily, i have not had a mission come up against them more than every 4 hr's.
