Am I missing something?

Those of us that have been here "forever" do actually know what it is like. Though "forever" in my case is Niko's creation date - and never did I buy another char. I remember the boredom as a newbie but I was always excited by the possibilities and I always found something else to do. If you are bored because you are sitting in station and hoping for an XP grind mission to solo and get to an empty end-game, then you are playing the wrong game.

My problem was when I got bored with the content after 1.5-2 years solid in nullsec I left for about a year. New gamers need to know what they are playing and know how to make the most of this game - it isn't WOW, we don't hold your hand. You come here to be self sufficient and capable of finding your own way. Self Sufficient btw does not mean solo, it means not dorky or so incapable that you cannot play with others when you need or want to.

Being a newb is one of the greatest parts of any great MMO. The best part of Eve is you are always a newb, no matter what you know or can do - someone knows or can do it better.

Like the rest of EVE lol

Especially mining?

Im guessing obvious is obvious?

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

I'm all for speeding up the skill train for subcaps. Capitals are fine, supercaps should take a wee bit longer.

I mean honestly: I'm at the point where I can fly most of the things I want to fly competently, but even I think it's complete bullshit that it took two years to get here.

However that said: The OP needs to realize that no one is just going to serve up interesting things to do in this game like they do in others. If you want to "Get Ahead" in eve, regardless of your SP, you need to team up with others, and you also need to learn how to talk to others in such a way that they would want to team up with you.

If you think you need x number of skill points to compete then 'you are doing it wrong'.

Possibly! I am new, is PVP possible at 300k sp, I am in a Catalyst with 8 Blaster turrets and level 2 class armor upgrades.

hum... lets zoom in on this...

a little closer:

Now lets translate this into proper eve jargon:

I am in an Uber miner ganking machine that can chew through a mackinaw like it's nobody's bussiness

Really OP... have fun b4 the Catalyst gets nerfed or the mining barges get buffed.

The catalyst with 8 blasters is surprisingly painful if it gets in a tight orbit on you.

Triggered by: Wars of Sovless Agression, Bending the Knee, Twisting the Knife, Eating Sov Wheaties, Bombless Bombers, Fizzlesov, Interceptor Fleets, Running Away, GhostTime Vuln, Renters, Bombs, Bubbles ?

I fail to see why you can't grab a rifter and help others PvP with low SP, I know I did. I was flying around in a crow after 4 months in game having fun with that.

You don't need huge amounts of SP to PvP, it just helps. The beneficial effect of large numbers of SP is diminished in group PvP anyway.

(Relative) Safey in numbers.

The worst thing you can do in this game is start waiting for your skill queue to finish, because it never will. Learn to enjoy what you have access to currently and you will enjoy the game a lot more by proxy.
