Is it just me or are the new barge rules going to really only effect low end minerals, I can still only see maxed orca / hulk / and rorqual teams, hitting 0.0 roids in grav belts, and unless theres something I dont know they wont change the yield of the hulk, rather boost lower end ships to be more in line, than say a BS with 8 mining lasers T2. Anyone else have any other speculation ideas? My guess is low end minerals are going to tank badly, while high ends stabilize.

people pretty much only mine in covetors or hulks anyway, all the other ships will have lower yields than them. mineral supply really won't change all that much.

the only people that don't fly a covetor are a hulk are flying retrievers because they are still training mining barges, those are the only people who will get any real "bonus" from this. and there are so few of them i really can't see it having a huge impact on mineral prices.

however with no real news on the ice/mercoxit bonuses, strange things might happen to morphite prices.

Without knowing how and if they'll change yield of the other ships, everything you just said is baseless speculation.

i think the dev blog answers "if" by pretty much confirming they are going to change the yields.
however beyond a vague statement about bringing the other two ships closer to that of the covetor/hulk you are correct we don't know very much. we do know though, that the covetor/hulk will still be the most m3/hour on paper.

The Retriever's going to be interesting for solo miners. The ability to jetcan, without actually dumping a can. Not losing a few cycles, while you haul could make a difference.

And the Procurer is going to be very interesting for AFK miners. As ganking it, while not impossible, will be a lot more expensive. As long as it's not a third the yield of the covetor, at least.

One option I'll be interested in seeing is:
A covetor or two as the miners.
A retriever being used to ferry the ore around, throwing in a few cycles when it gets the chance.

Woo! CSM XI!

CCP is known for having fun by throwing experimental ingredients into their already scientific experiments, that information alone should be enough, for a human to predict the future prices of almost any good in eve online, I.E. mining dev blogs and test server changes for lucrative possibilities.

I have a feeling, the hulk will not just be forgotten, but the techn situation can explode any moment, thought the recent movements from CCP have suggested tech wont hold its choke position very long, still its a very real threat the the eve economy.

Ahh, the more things change....

And yes Im back to thoes who remember me. to thoes who dont. . . you did not miss mutch. . . .

My two bits?

news ships/modules/materials will have more of an impact on mineral prices than any tweeks they do to mining boats

unless they plan to seriously overhaull them, and by seriously I mean more than a 5% acrost the board net buff on yealds for all mining hulls

Basicaly were getting a overhaul that results in a supertanked barge, a Super capacity barge and a Super excavating barge

ok so small mining teams now have a choice between a non mining Industrial hauler, a Orca and a Mining boat for their mining ops.

I suspect your going to see a bit of a drop in demand for Indistrials...Offset by a increased demand in Mining Barges.

And if I am looking at the art correctly on the concept Ore Mining frigate it has how many mining laser mounts? 6? If that art is accurate then your looking at the 2 base mining hulls needing to have better net yeilds than a specialised Ore Mining frig that packs more mining lasers than any current dedicated mining Cruiser and as many as some of the special fit mining Destroyers I have put together just for fun.

unless thats actualy suposed to be some kind of Tech 2 modular mining frigate. And ironicaly if so that would just make the situation even worse!
brainfart on my part, sorry its only 3 mounts.

I suspect they may redo the 2 base mining barges to have the same hardpoints for stripminers. (partly because of that Ore mining "frigate") just so its a real choice between hauling capacity and tank.

Right now?
we dont have enough data.
