Where would you go with my character?

Hi All

10m SP character that is essentially new to the game. I've played on and off with little direction for a few years. I'm in the navy so for a big portion of my time played was logging in changing skills, doing some casual mining and keeping my training going. Id play and leave, come back and leave, a trend among a lot of players I imagine.

I've spent some of my time training the core certs, mining, drones...

I've come back to the game, with 6 months of no sailing, so I'm on a quest to get "good" at eve. I'm running mission, and going to dip my toes exploration, pvp, maybe do some low sec mining, things I've never done before really. I've been thinking that interceptors or cov-ops would be fun down the line....but I've also got a bit of time already invested in my hulk and industrial... I don't know...as you can see I'm pretty scattered

What I would like to know, is where would you go with my skills if you had my character? What would you strive towards piloting or doing?

I would finish your core compentcy certs. Then work on your armor tanking certs. Get propulsion jamming to 5.

Remap for perception / willpower then do gunnery and spaceship command.

Before you remap make sure you didn't miss anything.

Im thinking of the similarities/differences between EVE and the Navy.

Eve has hundreds of thousands of characters
You will meet ppl from all over the world
In eve you can pick your own training and become quite skilled at that
In eve you can tell your Fleet Commander he is a dumbass (not recommended, just saying Cool )
90% of the ships in eve are gunships (or missiles)
Only about 10% 'other ' ships
Ships are just more dangerous in organised fleets than they are solo
Weapons are more dangerous with better skilling behind them

You can see where I'm going with this. IMO eve is a combat game. It is also a social structure game.
I know many players have a good time mineing, manufacturing, etc. I do some of this myself. (Tradeing, Reselling) And sometimes this is relaxing and just what i want.

But the heart pumping FUN is in the PvP. With over 200 killing machines, the game revolves around the many aspects of PvP.

My recommendation is to do more missions than mineing. Train combat skills while making isk. Look for a PvP corp or entity and get on board. Be prepared for some requirements (more f*cking orders) Voice comms, ship fits, etc.
You will lose ships. (almost every one of them tbh) But if you want to be "good at eve" this is what you have to do.

you have very solid support skills so far. you should now pick one or two ship hulls that you like and train for them. which ships to pick depends on what you intend to do and how quickly you want to get to it. if you want to run lvl4s ASAP, you should look into the Raven navy issue. if you fancy PVP, just jump into a rifter and apply for faction warfare. if you come to like nullsec exploration, take a look at the ishtar, you do have good drone skills already.

P.S.: as soon as you are content with your support skills, remapping correctly will be essential to get your main skills up faster.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Wow. Never expected so many good replies so fast! Thanks all!

@Ilshara - How far into my core comps should I go? I am at standard for all, and only a short distance from improved in those that have it....Elite however is a long long way off.....

@Raven - I think we are on the same page as far as what seems interesting/fun to do. While I enjoyed my time mining. It feels like I spent forever training to get into a Hulk, joined a corp at the time, and I was still just mining. I guess I shouldn't have expected it to get more interesting and am left to wonder if it gets more interesting in low/null or as an Orca or Rorq pilot, or if I should just walk right into some pew pew.

@Daniel - BS hold little interest for me. Regardless of where my skill plan takes me though, I am going to get my feet wet in factional warfare. Is there any good way to get into some null sec exploration, or is this just a jump right in situation?

Thanks again everyone!!

If you want to do exploration, you need some more skills. I'd take the astrometeric ones to at least 3. You should probably train up for the ishtar, and that means you'll need sentry drones. If not ishtar, then you'd have to go with one of the strategic cruisers.
