Why don't you do it? It would be a great asset to the exploration community hearing from a true new player with all of those limitations rather than an older player emulating it (not that that wouldn't be helpful, but having a truly new player do it would provide an extremely different perspective).

I don't know if I made a good favour for exploration community but my testing period is over and my end report can be read from here

Summary: What I learned?

I want to thank everyone who gave instructions and ideas on this thread and those also who gave constructive criticism about my fittings etc.

Shortly about my summary. I can now recommend exploration for newbies like me also. It is the best money source what I have find so far during my short playing career. With a little skills, relative cheap ships and fittings you can gather good income.

Good God, you found 128 Unknown and Ladar sigs laying around and didn't run them? Where in the world were you?

I will say that, in my experience, I've found Radars somewhat more common than the 5% that you have, so you might want to factor that into your calculations.

Overall though, nice writeup. I think it's a good idea for people to try as many different things as they can in Eve, good work.

Well written and helpful for new explorers.

I don't know about other explorers but I would advise you to limit yourself to four probes in a diamond formation (I use 4 and set them up on the same plane having all arrow heads touching on the signature), then scale them using shift+click and move them closer in (or out) using alt+drag.

This is not diamond formation but is it similar to this? Do you have picture/video about that formation. And how it is better than for example this pyramid method?

4 probes scanning - Pyramid

But I agree that I'll have to learn scanning using four probes. It might be a little faster that it is with five altough I got better allready with five compared my first runs about a month ago. Cool

Long time ago I have written wiki page about high sec exploration:

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/High_sec_exploration_(advanced)

it is not for begginers but once you get hang of it it should help you improve earnings. I do exploration since I started playing EVE, well 2 months later cause I had to learn skills (old scan system)Big smile. I easily earn 2-3 billion in a month depending on luck/time invested which is really good for high sec. You have to take into account that I know all tricks so that is why my earnings are good. I also invest billions into it. I tried to share most of my tricks of trade in that page in order to help people out. Hope it helps you too.

Have fun and be persistentAttention

I read your page and found it very helpful, but I cant help but wonder. Where and what are you spending billions on for exploration?

Why would you advise so?

All probes count towards scan strength, so especially with low Rangefinding level it would be better to use as many probes as skills allow.

Also having the probes in a 3-dimensional formation is better than a single plane, both because signatures don't stick to a single plane and the very nature of quadrulation.

Launching additional probes and the initial arrangement is anyway not the biggest time sink imo, and time lost in that is gained back in the fewer scan cycles resulting from the extra probes.
