UnEve-like? I don't think the old font was recognizably very Eve-like. Do you all want a BSG font or something?

This new font is far more readable than previously. BOLDED ALL CAP text for some reason is not quite as readable. I don't know if its spacing or too many lines going in the same direction, but it is busier somehow.

The scaled UI really makes a difference. No more screwing up my resolution to enlarge the text. I find I do not need a big change with the new font to read comfortably. For the record I'm nearly 20/20.

The first level in the context menu chops off all bookmarks, at 12 and 13, to where I cannot tell similar bookmarks from each other. Making folders would clean this up neatly, but we will never make that first step in the bookmarking process. Could we scale the context menus also?

A bit late to the party...

The problem with the font is the chunkiness of it. Sure it is easy to distinguish O from 0 but at the cost of aesthetics. It is an interesting balancing act.

There are quite a few good monospaced fonts that scale down nicely. My favorite being ProFont, I use it for programming and my consoles. You can get it here: http://www.tobias-jung.de/seekingprofont/

I would love to see the option to be able to choose my own font for the UI.

Why no forum font ingame? Modern fonts can be well readable w/o looking like it's taken from MS-DOS

I'm missing information in the overview. Unless I make it considerably wider of course, and cover up all the new nebulae and my lovely ship.

What he said. I don't really mind the new font (I think it's completely horrible compared to the old one, but I can live with it), but seriously, the amount of information displayed just got cut by 50%. The market window, the overview and "show info" require gigantic amounts of space to display the information they displayed before.

I'd scale down the UI (in fact I did), but that scales down everything else too, which, for some portions, I don't like.

I'd really only want the letters to be together more tightly, much like the old font, and for gods sake, please let us reduce the font size. It's ridiculously big. Try buying something.

Exactly, CCP by reinventing the wheel you will have a new font that will be not much better than the existing one.

Have you guys tried in-house using some common fonts like Verdana?

Actually, can you let us pick which font to use ingame?

Why so stubbon on inventing a new font?

Please give us the option to reduce just the font (not the entire UI including HUD, icons, buttons, etc.) to roughly the current TQ size. It'll need to be readable at this size too...

Alternatively give us the option to disable the new font and continue using the old one.

Some of us still use normal-sized screens that run at 1280x1024 - we don't want to have to buy a 30" screen just to be able to display the same amount of information as we can currently.

As of 11/11: If I use 110% scaling and make an overview tab with the name set just a single capital P, its cut off.

The new font is terrible because of all the reasons above... CCP please don't try to design font because you're not good at it... just BUY a good one FFS...

I like the new font, but there are quite a bit of strange artifacts when using scaling down. Letters bleeding into each other , which makes the scaling a bit pointless. Some are even visible at 100% like the letters on tabs bleeding into the line underneath it. Sample here: http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/NamDnilb/Clipboard01.png

it's all messy.

I like old eve font for the UI, goes well with EvE.

CCP we need UI font size, my eyes bleed at 1900-1200, some guys have higher rez. Need resizable UI fonts.

I get headache after half an hour of market and contracts. SIZE, SIZE! I need to EMPHASIZE!

This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

WARP DRIVE makes eve boring

really - add warping align time 300% on gun aggression and eve becomes great again

I just have one small problem now, and this is at 100% with no UI scaling.

Decimal points in an icon's item quantity box are too hard to make out, I'm not sure if 12.6k is 126k.
Please make decimal points and commas bigger or more distinct.

After roughly an hour, even with the UI scaled to 90%, I had to shut off SISI before I started throwing up from the font.

Its far too sharp and even harder to read than the current font. I am no where near 20/20 vision and I could read the old font just fine. The new font is just waaaaay too sharp and not EVE-like as I'd hoped.

I know CCP is not going to change the font. But this is my personal ideal font for EVE:

A monospaced san-serif font that is easy to read at all scales, with a twist for a sci fi game:

  • Due to the nature of EVE information is vital, and a monospaced font will make it easier to format for example tables or copied data. Also it will make everything neater in any form of space excel (overview, market etc).

  • It needs to be easy to read because there are many things in EVE are written in paragraphs.

  • It needs to be legible at all scales because text in EVE are generally small.

  • It needs to feel stylish enough in a way that it feels part of a futuristic scifi interface.

  • Right now, the new EVE font fails to achieve ANY OF THE ABOVE. I am a little mad.

A font fitting my description will be similar to Concolas or Eurostile or Bitstream. Letters perhaps more on the square side than round to continue the EVE font tradition.

Actually I just came across this font on the internet which looks pretty perfect for EVE to adopt:

i tend to agree. this looks eveish, yet clearly readable. not sure mono-spaced is needed for everything though... for numbers definitely, but several text elements could be proportional to save space.

I think that font should be changeable instead of hardwired into the files.

    This would be ideal.

However, I'd settle for an option to switch between the new or the old font.

    custom font, custom font-color
monospaced for numbers, variable width for text

resizable UI is pretty nice feature though! i expect many people to embrace it.
