I am an old fart and need a new prescription for the glasses I wear. New font is a big improvement for me. Me likes!Big smile

If this is true, then CCP should point it out. "Using a single font for all language versions would reduce the workload in the future." That may not be a reason everyone likes or accepts, but at least it's a reason. At the moment, the lack of an official reason why we can't have the option to choose between the two fonts is making the entire discussion far more difficult.

Lots of people love the old font, and lots of people want the change, so I'll pose the question to CCP again.
Why can't we have the option to choose between them? An official answer will go a long way to making this a civil discussion.

Please remove all use of roman numerals in Eve. They just add confusion. Simple numbers will work just fine.

Please don't create a new font. Just license and use a standard font crafted by people who are experts at font development. Eve developer time should be spent on FiS and font pros will do a better job than you

I don't mean any disrespect by these comments, but the prototypes shown so far are weak if not worse than the existing font. A poor rollout of an imperfect font could have a very large negative impact on eve. Does it really make sense do this design in-house? Just use a proven font.

I don't know what this person is talking about but it has been stated a few times before (and in the dev blog as well) that the new and old font don't render together so you will not get the option of choosing between the two fonts. sorry, but here is your reason (again:P).

Fixed that for you, I must say after being a bit sceptical after 8 years of the old font I liked the new font, no big huge change except for the fact that everything is very readable. I like it.

I don't know where you got the impression that I, a programmer, designed the font Big smile I'm just working on the implementation of it.
There was a font designer who made the font.

I've been working on FiS for a long time now (as a part of Team BFF) and yes, a new font is a part of FiS..

I don't think you should just change the font of the whole game for everyone. I think you should incorporate multiple fonts. Give people a chance to Chose what they like. Trajan Pro is a good font and it's easy to read. o0O The the font used on the Forums is decent too. Just to allow people a choice in fonts would be amazing. ^_^

We can already choose the font size but it will be really nice to have a greater choice of sizes especially for those who play with a big screen.
Choosing different fonts would be great too.
Otherwise the new font seems really pleasant.

The newer font is cool but on the options window, I find it far better to read if there all caps. At least add the option of how you want it to be. Just a box, that you check if you want the lowercase alternative...

I appreciate the fonts getting some love but it still looks like a developer is calling the shots on these fonts. I know you're probably used to the look of these fonts because windows has crap font rendering, but I'm spoiled by mac. Even linux has nicer font rendering.

So I have two requests:
* Make font size changes global, I like everyone else would like to play eve on a big res. Currently I lower my res before launching even because the fonts are just so small all over the game.
* Rock this like I know you can. You have tons of smart people, I know you can do it right, but the current screenshots are not even close to good enough for what I expect from CCP.

This does not compare favorably. (fonts as rendered by mac vs fonts on Sisi: http://cl.ly/2y1132021g3Q2v2J3w06)

In the meantime, thank you so, so, so much for spending some dollars on this. It's one of those things that makes such a huge difference. We really appreciate it.

This screenshot, isn't it just from the devblog? It was written over a month ago. The font is back on SiSi now so I encourage you to go and try it out there and see what you think. We've come a long way since the devblog was posted Smile

Um... you sure because the font on "my" SiSi looks pretty identical with the old font?

This is getting confusing.. could somebody ( developer or a self proclaimed ninja) make a high resolution screen capture of this elusive new font type with characters of least the English alphabet present ( the more the better ) ?

Would be better to judge that than jumping to conclusions based on unfinished code.

I don't suffer from insanity.. I enjoy it !
