But if you're going to argue that the trolls making kitchen jokes aren't Misogynist, I disagree.

I absolutely do argue that.

My reasoning is that trolls by their nature will say or write things to provoke a reaction. I'd submit that one can repeat a joke like that without actually feeling the sentiment behind it. That doesn't make it morally good, but it does mean that someone can utter such a joke without actually being a misogynist.

This is actually one of the things that makes trolling with misogynist or racist jokes so bad. The person wants a response, but they rarely understand the reaction they provoke. The internet just doesn't provide the usual human mechanisms for empathy.

To be clear, I don't believe this excuses the behavior, but I do think it explains it without blunting the definition of misogynist. Why do I think it's important that the meaning remain undiluted? Actual misogyny probably requires treatment. Trolling with misogynist jokes requires a spanking. The meanings and distinctions lead to vastly different kinds of remediation, and I'd always rather a scalpel were applied than a shotgun where possible.

You're free to remain unpersuaded, however. Smile

When chocolate and other desserts are appearing in a thread, I am generally interested in it. The rest I can't figure out for life. Is it about crossdressing, or the XX vs. XY thing What?

So out of curiosity - when is this pointless dead-beaten horse debate going to end?

Don't you people have better things to do...like earning Isk?

Albeit I do like the off-topic of cooking! My part-time hobby is in fact just that as well. Amazing what a desperation towards a life of daily insta-noodles can do to you. Baking is still uncharted waters for me though Roll

Should be careful mentioning your gender in EVE. There are true women gamers, I know a few. But most estimates I have heard (and I concur from my own experience) is that about 90% of EVE players are male. The women who don't flaunt their gender can often stay under the radar, but as soon as you start telling people, random creepy guys start flooding any and all chat channels you occupy and giving you random expensive gifts.

There are chat channels that already have several women, such as what Petrus Blackshell mentioned. Another great example is the neweden-radio channel which not only has a handful of women who frequent it, but the most popular DJ (DJ Tranze) is a very friendly lady who has a way of getting the party going.

Hope that helps!

Meh

To quote our Raid leader from another game who ended a argument over people who had Female toons by inviting everyone involved to chat on vent, where he bascialy continued his rant on the subject. the only thing the Raid leader said the entire time was

"Prove your a man and not just someone who happens to play with male toons, and maybee you will be worth knowing"

and then threw the idiot out of the guild.

Ironicaly none of his "Freinds" left with him. hes since moved to another server.

By the way theres no mistaking that the Raid leader is Female in vent.

Player Gender/Military Confirmation Test, Question 1 (of 1)

Q. Fill in the blank. "That ____ over there is named Jane. She is a ____ gamer."

a. female, female
b. woman, woman
c. woman, female

--

If A is selected, the respondent is a male veteran. If B is selected, the respondent is female. If C is selected, the respondent is male.

I'm not sure... I'm a girl/female/woman and I didn't know the "correct" answer P

Im a born again Texan.

theres only one correct answer.

"That Lady over there is named Jane. Shes a gamer."

And Lady is correct.
Untill proven beyond a doubt you treat anyone not male as a Lady.
and theres no l in Lady.

So if you are a girl gamer than keep it under wraps because people tend to get butthurt when you're better at everything than they are.

Implying females are not people.

That being said.

Sometimes you're the girl.

The only "girl gamers" I'm interested in meeting are the ones like Codex. All those women who play for attention, I don't give a damn about you. For every one of you, there are 5 or more women who play computer games because computer games are fun for humans.

How often do 'guy gamers' make threads asking about how many other guy gamers there are?

Who gives a ****?

This thread is clear attention whoring and your crocodile tears fool no one. You're not a martyr for anything, neither is any other girl who acts like being a girl who plays a videogame makes her somehow better than the multitudes of other people who play the game. It would be best to remind yourself that if you want true equality, what you have between your legs doesn't make you special or somehow more desirable than anyone else who has the same hobby as you. Hence the thread is clearly attention whoring.

^^Yes, thank you!^^ (All others: I declare ^^this^^ an ::Offical GoodPoast(TM)::, and thus, [/thread])

Gods, feminists **** me off, man: Always having to turn everything into blaming someone else for their own damned faults, and expecting to dodge responsibility for same just because they're "oppressed" little snowflakes, this sheerly by dint of having vaginae.

I mean, really! It's a video-game, for Gods' sakes, who the f cares, and why the f should they?

There are only other people, who also play EVE, some of whom happen to be female. That's it.

Grow up, girls!

Grrrrrrrr....[/mini-rant]
