yeah i have been can flipped and lost an iteron to a gang of two people when i tried to take my cargo back and run with it. this whole game is laced with it. in a 0.9 sec zone too. ive literally had peoples myrmidons turn up and go red infront of my navitas that has 2 mining lasers. seriously. theres obviously something broken at the core of pvp if thats what people are doing to try and get a kill.

i had a frigate that spent ages just flying into me really fast making my mining lasers quit, i thought it was just fun at first until i realised he was actually doing it because he knew it was griefing my mining lasers.

this happens atleast once a day, the very reason i went to a 0.5 was to anchor some boxes so i could stop the can flipping. are you crazy that you dont know this. i didnt get any warning when i jumped into a 0.5 saying that i should be careful of -10 security players ganking and podding the **** out of me like i did when i went into a 0.4, i accepted that i took a risk then when i was ganked as soon as i jumped through to a 0.4.

i do not wish to be ganking month old players after a year of playing. what a sorry excuse for pvp it is. scambox mmogrief

1) You stole from someone. You know the whole "Two wrongs don't make a right" thing your mother taught you? EvE's got that.
Going Red doesn't mean they can shoot you. It means you can shoot them.

2) Move out of high traffic areas. Hit approach to the roid. Etc.

3) Move out of high traffic systems. When I mined in HS, I think I may have been canflipped once in months of mining.
Jumping into a .4 gave you a big popup that said "This is dangerous"

1a) no **** sherlock.

1b) yeah i didnt attack the myrmidon with a navitas with 2 mining lasers, for obvious reasons like, i had no guns. and i was in a navitas and there was a red myrmidon infront of me and all my ore in a yellow can? k?

2) yeah, he got bored and left after his little slice of newbie grief pie.

3) i have now been mining in several systems. they all have had their share of grief.

have fun in your World of **** People mmogriefer game.

btw, now i know why eve only ever has 30k online

1b) Going red doesn't hurt you at all. Seriously, they can't shoot you or CONCORD will blow them up.

3) Look for less trafficked systems. Try Dotlan

I know him going red doesnt hurt me but he basically stole all my ore and ******* sat there infront of me expecting me to do something when i have a mining navitas and hes there in a myrmidon.

do try to keep up

this isnt even the point, the whole point is this game is full of scumbags and the sooner you all stay here and i go find another game. the better.

good bye.

People such as RubyPorto are trying to be helpful. Please try to calm down a little.

You know, you could always seek out a Factional Warfare (no mention of Loyalty Points will appear in this comment) Corp or Alliance who could always do with some extra veldspar to hand for their punishers/rifters. If you're a roleplayer, you might even find some Factional Warfare Corps or Alliances who are also roleplayers (admittedly they're a tiny minority) -in both cases, you'll likely be given some degree protection or at least some workable advice as how to mimimise your losses of which there will still be many at first, but less so in time.

In this way, not only will you have to keep an eye out for villains and scalliwags intent on ruining your eve-hours, but you'll, in addition, have to watch out for War Targets who will likely want to do the same.

Let me tell you, that this, the worst of all worlds teaches you at short notice how to adapt from the get-go. It won't be pleasant at first, but as you build up skills, assets and -most vitally- many tips and tricks, you may finally enjoy outsmarting your opposition when you are able and fill the holds with your ore simultaneously.

FW Corps advertise in these fora somewhere. Take a look, contact one that interests you and start talking to them. Try it, you just might like it.

Well, why didn't you? He stole from you. EvE gave you the option to retaliate. If you don't like your odds (as you didn't) you don't have to. You can also move to a less trafficked system to reduce the likelihood of getting your trash stolen (by the way, you can avoid canflipping by not jetcan mining).

Which brings us back to:

Looks like you're feeling a bit worried and slightly angry when you log in, which means EvE's working juuuuust fine.

except im not logging back in.

and my sub is cancelled. and my petition is in, where i will give feedback before i go.

if thats how eve works then, yeah 30k players when half of them are running 2 3 or 4 accounts at once is a bit....... meh. good luck to you all and ccp.

i do appreciate your advice though. (i am not sure about the advice about fighting back against a myrmidon who has been in his corp a year, when youre still on trial, is sound advice though)

and btw i was ganked and podded by a -10 player in a 0.5 where i had anchored GSCs which was my original point.

these are several encounters ive had with players who have been around longer than a year trying to grief me in my first month.

when you get griefed and podded in high sec and lose over 150m and most of your worth. its time to cut your losses and **** off to a game that doesnt backstab its brand new customers.

EvE is the 3rd Largest Paid Western MMO at 400k active subs.

SWOTOR and WoW are the only Paid MMOs ahead of it, and Runescape and Second Life are the only 2 FTP MMOs ahead of it.

I think that, for a company's first product, 9 years of year after year rising subs(the only MMO to have this) leading to being the 3rd in its class is a fair performance, wouldn't you?

theres other games that run more that are not wearing an "mmo badge". nor are they games that have multiple accounts and free trials filling the ranks. so this isnt exactly massive to me.

So, apples and oranges are different and compete with different market segments. Scathing rebuke of EvE's mechanics, there, short stuff.

it doesnt really bother me, i just understand why its still populated like that after 9 years. i guess player retention is a problem. maybe there is a problem keeping new blood.

The constantly increasing number of active subs says that player retention is just fine.

Which games with more subscriptions were you talking about earlier?

(Seriously, at some point you gotta stop digging)

Which multiplayer games have been around longer than EvE? (Started May 2003)

You make the claim, you get to provide the evidence.

are you talking about games that are still around now or what?

everquest was out before eve if am not mistaken

half life counter strike a lot of multiplayer games were out before 2003 are you asking something else?

even muds, you must be asking me what multiplayer games are still around that were before eve? because i cant answer that, i guess they got old and died.

griefers got to live somewhere though

Ok. It's been around longer. It peaked at 550k in 2004 and has around 100k now (and has recently added an FTP and reduced cost model). Not doing too hot...

its not the point, i could be wrong about the numbers.

i just have a feeling that this was the shortest lived rpg ive played yet.

gutted to be honest.

im craving a decent space game so bad. i love the feel of eve, the ui the detail the complicated fight but the griefing scam city just isnt for me. im too honest for a game like this, and i dont want to commit to it now.

Since when is 9 years short lived for an MMO?

(If you want to do well in EvE, you have to accept that your stuff's not safe)

Besides, what exactly brought you to EvE, and what made you think it would be all friendly and cozy like.

If you want space MMOs that follow the Hello Kitty Online model, might I suggest SWOTOR, STO, or SWG (oh, wait... not even the franchise to end all franchises could save that one).
