Find a bit of lore that says killing a capsuleer clone is murder. Otherwise, it ain't.
So far the people in this thread disagree.

Nobody goes to the EvE fiction board because nobody cares.

Oh, and none of that thread quoted any extant lore.

EDIT:
Aaand... Post 2 doesn't say it's murder, nor does post 3 (the only posts there atm).

It's only "ruining your day" if you let that be the case. I personally don't care if Iose a ship, especially a cheap frigate.

There are many reasons to destroy any ship, but in particular the ship you're using is often used to scout and probe out ships, and will usually fit a cloak even if it can't warp cloaked - two very good reasons to shoot the intruder first and ask questions later.

If you were to drive your car full speed over a border in a lawless region "IRL" in a type that is known to be used as a recon vehicle by the "enemy" then you would very well likely be shot first, and asked what you were doing after.

I've yet to see you propose a reason NOT to be shot at, other than you just don't like it. So, would that mean the people there would need to ask permission first?

There's a link missing in your logic.

I can't believe you chose not to update skill clones... Investing time in training surely has worth to you.

Not even going to bother reading it all, we've seen this thread before and adapt or die. YES you are role playing, good for you. But if you refuse to use the technology simply because of this, then really I can't care less. This isn't WoW. This is EvE and damn me if anyone should feel bad for you because you are refusing to aid yourself in your career.

This could be fun.

RP is great when it works in the mechanics of the game. Playing a character who does not believe in cloning can be restricting much like playing a character who refuses to talk with characters from other empires. Although this is doable I believe it is harder than playing a "racist" in other MMOs where the sides of good and evil are clearly defined.

There are ways to RP in EVE that excel compared to other MMOs. I for one have never initiated a fight (which might be more me than RP) and have only killed a few non-mission based rats in self defense. Almost every other MMO is experience point based which is gained from killing enemies, making peaceful characters not an option.

If you want to RP or have any weird quirks (fly only frigates, refuse to join player corporations, enjoy stalking other ships, have a habit of giving away all your ISK, etc.) good for you. Just make sure that it doesn't interfere with your enjoyment of the game, and fits your play style. I'm a pacifist who really enjoy clothes shopping which is not possible in most other MMOs.

Go play Maplestory.

This could be fun.

I would just like to make two points here.

1. You're Gallente RPing an Amarrian Lord. Bad enough that you are Gallente but I don't know any Amarrian Lords who go to the University of Calle.

2. You should use the Bio of your character to develop your story. Maybe start off with a disclaimer that you are RPing. Some people may respect that and if so inclined RP with you. Most could care less and will just pod you for fun.

It's a harsh world friend and it's all yours.

Well, there is certainly the option of starting over and doing it without getting podkilled. I myself have made it through however long without being podkilled on this character so far. Not what I would consider a mark of accomplishment, but true anyway, and it's not like I've never left station either.

There are ways to avoid getting podkilled, and just knowing how to get your pod out isn't one of them. Even with proper avoidance, it's still a possibility. Regardless, despite the possibility I've been playing for ~ 5 years and I can count the number of times I've been podkilled on all characters at less than 20 I would think.

That includes the times I intentionally went out looking to get in a fight and most probably get ganked in the process, as well as all the time I spent in WH space, the Nullsec roams I`ve done, and much flying about in Lowsec and Empire before I got bored of trying.

So, sure it is possible, and relatively simple in approach. Just treat all space as if it were Nullsec, (within reason; obviously you don`t have to worry about certain things in Lowsec or Highsec), and fit your ships to evade pursuit, cloak, etc.. You want to avoid dying; either don't be there, or don't stick around to get killed, or don't get caught.

My advice.

Greetings

First and for most, stop whining about choices you made i.e. "woe is me, I got podded and because of my regrettable decision to RP an anti-cloning capusleer I lost SP. Help me Obiwan Kanobi your my only hope to go on" is a bit on the weak side.

Had you come at us from the perspective of;
"Hey guys (not mentioning the fact that you don't upgrade your clone because we all think that un-wise) I just got podded in low-sec for the first time and it was AWSOME! I was wondering if you guys had any ideas as to how a now lower than before SP player can seek pay-back for their piracy." We would have offered up any of a thousand ways to do this. My favorite is the befriend and betray, takes a long time but is ultimately satisfying. Pirates have Egos stroke them in local about how awesome they are and that you have always wanted to be a pirate and could they help you with that, if they know any Corps recruiting for the PIE life. Then you get in, do some pew pew "in character" of course. Get some roles and steal their stuff.

Just a thought.

well i got ganked while mining in my vexor in a 0.5 sec. then podded, losing all my +4 implants that i had saved up for pretty much adding more days onto my training queues but that didnt matter because i promptly went to account management and cancelled my sub. i really cant be arsed now, no mining vessel so cant even grind to replace my implants. really cant be arsed to play this game anymore. cant even join a corp without thinking they are going to scam you kill you and leave you in the gutter. **** this.

if thats all people have to do for pvp, is go gank newbies in mining vessels and then pod them for kicks in high sec zones, then i dont want to spend the time or money trying to reach that point. nor do i want to invest anymore time, other than the month of my life that i wish i could get back, in this game that is surely just going to give me exactly the same feeling on a regular basis.

i guess, eve is pretty good attempt at a big mmo space game, its just laced with too much dirty scamming and griefing to really be what i wanted.

and that is a real shame.

enjoy my tears, one months worth...

Rule Number 1 of EvE. Do not FLY what you can't afford to lose.
Rule Number 2 of EvE. Do NOT fly what you can't afford to lose.

Even then, you can rebuild the same way you built up to the Vexor in the first place (better yet, you can train for a barge if you like mining). Start with a rookie ship, save up.

You have an unlimited number of chances to make your fortune in EvE. If you're giving up after your first setback, EvE's probably not right for you. Hint: EvE's not a nice place; make that work for you and you'll do well.

its not my first set back, ive been ganked jumping into 0.4 zone at the gate by people with well over a years worth of skills. any time i try and mine i get can flipped by people who expect me to fight them. maybe i should just beg and get hand outs from a player corp instead of trying to do it for myself...whats the point.

yeah and if i cant use implants in high sec because ill get podded then really i cant be arsed with it. its too long to train basic **** as it is.

no thanks.

im cutting my losses at one month and getting out of here. enjoy your scambox game.

im so glad i didnt buy any plex and sell it for isk. man i was so close to it. i decided not to because i thought i would sort out my own income, buy my own implants get myself sorted before getting any hand outs or making it easy for myself.

and that really has saved me some real money in the end. (though i would have save more if this had happened before the end of my trial and i had not subbed at all)

anyway cool story right...

There are tons of guides on how to do the things you were trying to do safely. They're easy to find.

While the idea of RP is truly noble and interesting. I just don't see it happening in this game very effectively. You are going about it the hard way, find a serious RP corp. It might make things easier and more fun to play. You just might have to change a few things up. But if you are going to be extremely picky, you wont last log in this game I'll tell you that.

PS
I'm podding you every chance I get when I see you till you join a RP corp.

you can have my stuff its on a wreck in a 0.5 asteroid belt. or probably the market by now.

or just go griefing newbies like the others and loot theirs.

you could read a guide on how to grief, for stuff.

Did someone can flip you in a newbie system, bait you in a newbie system, or bump your freighter for hours? No? Then you didn't get griefed.

If you want to have some protections from other players, hang out in the newbie systems, or, to paraphrase CCP Wrangler, Hello Kitty Online is Thataway

For the record, in my first reply to this guy, I tried to help the new guy. Then he got mad(der).

yeah i have been can flipped and lost an iteron to a gang of two people when i tried to take my cargo back and run with it. this whole game is laced with it. in a 0.9 sec zone too. ive literally had peoples myrmidons turn up and go red infront of my navitas that has 2 mining lasers. seriously. theres obviously something broken at the core of pvp if thats what people are doing to try and get a kill.

i had a frigate that spent ages just flying into me really fast making my mining lasers quit, i thought it was just fun at first until i realised he was actually doing it because he knew it was griefing my mining lasers.

this happens atleast once a day, the very reason i went to a 0.5 was to anchor some boxes so i could stop the can flipping. are you crazy that you dont know this. i didnt get any warning when i jumped into a 0.5 saying that i should be careful of -10 security players ganking and podding the **** out of me like i did when i went into a 0.4, i accepted that i took a risk then when i was ganked as soon as i jumped through to a 0.4.

i do not wish to be ganking month old players after a year of playing. what a sorry excuse for pvp it is. scambox mmogrief
