What's the deal with Storyline/COSMOS BPC's and Mods

I'm just starting to train in Industry. I've been running missions a lot lately, and have collected a fairly impressive stash of COSMOS storyline BPC's. I find it strange that there are so few storyline modules on the market, and such an abundance of BPC's. Those BPC's by the way are plentiful on the market, and dispite the abundance are not selling. This would indicate to me that they are very overpriced. Many of the required components are also quite overpriced, considering Supply & Demand.
The special skillbook is even more overpriced. What I would like to know is why are these items so rediculously overpriced considering that there doesn't seem to be much of a supply of the manufactured modules on the market. These modules do not have the stat bonuses of comparable deadspace, officer, or in many cases even Faction mods. It looks like a totally insane market situation. The Risk/Reward for gathering the needed components is also out of balance. I was considering manufacturing the BPC's I have gathered, but taking all these factors into consideration, it may be better just to trash them and move on. Am I wrong?

They were something added a long time ago and newer modules have over taken them for much less price. What you see is a reflection of basically what you've noticed - items hard to get, skill books hard to get, nobody wants the storyline items, so you get very little material supply and have to farm it all yourself basically.

There are a few items people want from storylines, but not many. Most T2 stuff does far better.

the only advantage of most storyline modules is that they have significantly lower fitting requirements than there t1 or t2 counterparts. stats are generally similar to meta 2-3 of the same module but much lower fitting requirements.

They are a niche item for very tight fits and not in high demand. Add to that the fact they need rare materials to build and in some cased rare skillbooks to use they are pretty much useless. I have a hugh stack of them from running COSMOS missions on two toons. they are just sitting in a hanger near the mission agents I got them from collecting dust. Not worth getting the mats required to build them, not even worth moving them to Jita to sell the BPC's.
They need to either remove the special mats required in manufacturing, or just have the modules be given instead of the BPC's. these items are not near valuable enough for the effort currently involved in manufacturing them.

Some of the large storyline guns would be nice paired with the new BC's as it would leave you much more room for tank or damage mods, but still not worth the effort currently required.

i wouldn't trash them. People do buy the bpcs, but you are best trying on the forums. I managed to sell all mine from the amarr and caldari missions for a total of around 700m.

What they are worth depends on what bpcs you get given as rewards... some are a lot more valuable than others.

Part of the reason that they are so expensive is that because they are COSMOS missions, you can only do them once, and some folks think that means that the items are special. Or they look at the price of the skill book and think they must be special for that reason.

I've been buying the BPCs that I can afford and stockpiling them until I can get around to making them. All the ones I make will end up going to corp members, so I don't plan on selling the results.

I accumulate the BPCs from the COSMOS missions just because they're fun to collect, and I do manufacture some of them just for the novelty. Sure, modern modules are more efficient and more powerful, but I like having them. I tend to use them on faction pirate or T2 ships to use in DED complexes... Why? Dunno. Just fun.

But then this is a game, and all about having fun, no? :) If you (or anyone else) want to get rid of their COSMOS BPCs for a fair price, look me up. And I mean fair, not an insanely inflated price, cuz you'll just get laughed at and then blocked. P
