I applaud the Summit’s new modesty rules

Capsellers are known for their immodest behavior and I appreciate the Summit providing us a comm to gather in where such behavior is not tolerated.

They don't seem to have much of an effect, based on my personal observations.

For a place with supposed rules on such things, I've seen and heard a surprisingly large amount rather lewd behaviour in there the short time since my graduation. Perhaps if its so hard to keep capsuleers from acting in such a manner, a new channel can be made which actively encourages that sort of lewd behaviour...one I can stay out of.

I personally haven't witnessed anything that anyone could consider lewd (although I do have a few people blocked for other reasons). But I've seen a few more public displays of affection than I'd like, given the ostensible purpose of the channel.

I'm right here.

There's no reason to make this personal.

Let us simply be thankful that there may be a decrease in the impious and immodest behaviors of those who gather in the comm.

The Operators are just people as well; one can't keep an eye out to ensure common decency down there all the time. If there happens to be some kind of a grievous offense in the channel's limits, I'm sure there's a lits of people somewhere there which you can mail about the issue.

The "rule" in question was an implied one that had been enforced in a few particularly egregious cases prior to last night. To make things simpler for people, and to save ourselves (that is, the moderators) a headache, we simply made it explicit so that there would be no confusion in the future should we have to slap someone for it.

For those who were not there, I'll explain it clearly: Other users of the Summit, by and large, neither need nor want to know what you look like without your clothes on. If you are going to be connected using a video or holo connection, cover whatever parts of you are going to be in view. That means a shirt and pants or a skirt of some sort. If you absolutely must connect while stark naked, keep your feed showing shoulders and up, or disable video and go audio-only broadcast.

The Summit is not a place for you to put on a peepshow for everyone else, so as far as PDA goes, keep it reasonable and there won't be problems.

In addition, this has been made explicit for both genders and any variations thereof, or assumed species if someone wants to get really technical.

I don't care if you've decided to turn yourself into a dog or whatever; when you come into the Summit you put on a damned shirt.

Or just avoid the cesspool altogether. Far too much crap and far too little discussion goes on in that channel to make it worth one's time to monitor it.

We're working on it.

Also, for anyone else who feels like pushing buttons and toeing lines; clothing in this case is defined as material that does not pass as being naked. Sorry, Gallete Fashion Fans, but transparent shirts do not make the cut.

Also, just because the rule says "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" does not mean you can come in without pants.

My girlfriend gets hazed every time she appears on the same camera as me, never mind anything more than that. I would say anti-PDA is rather well enforced.

I'm reasonably certain that any heckling your partner receives has as much if not more to do with her behavior and mannerisms than any PDA associated with the both of you.

Neither my partner nor I take any flak when we're on together, and to my knowledge, this is the case for most other couples who frequent the Summit.

If you have specific incidents in mind, please forward me and/or other moderators the logs and we will deal with it as appropriate.

Ava and I have never had any trouble with being heckled, but then neither do we tend to sit in each others lap/make out/be naked.

Pilot Halete, speaking to you about the subject seems like it could cause all sorts of additional awkwardness.

And as I noted, to my knowledge, nobody has recently engaged in anything anyone would consider lewd. I simply don't participate in the Summit to watch cuddling and snuggling, that's all.

However, as Pilot Graelyn notes, I shall cope.

As a newer pilot from a fairly conservative background, I do admit I have seen many sights which seem unchaste or simply "odd". But then, such is to expected when there are so many of the cluster's different cultures in the channel. Classy displays of affection have an appeal, I suppose. Nakedness, however, does not have such an appeal.

If there are users of The Summit who feel a more pious environment is needed I'm sure a good pilot of Faith will step up to make such a comms channel for those purposes. For now, I agree with the good Cardinal's assessment: cope.

You're corrupting the innocence I have painted for Ava in my head.
