Being a Toon-maker / Builder Ive noticed over the past month or so that Potential
Toon buyers in the character bazaar are being more Nitpicky than usual. always trying to outlast the patience of the seller
even when a Toon that is exactly what they are looking for down to the last SP, The prospective buyers always want something for nothing" Well yea this IS EVE"

Anyone else think that the current Eve-Economy may have something to do with this Reaction

ArrowJust a random observation from a toon seller that has over 12 accounts which all are used to train toons up to sell

There is two things to this, one is the natural bargaining approach, which means potential buyers purposely appear not to seem satisfied with the product, as they may be able to get a discount that way. It's quite common :p
On a forum like this there is also a very high cool factor as well, meaning that people would reply saying things that makes them appear cool even though they don't really have any interest in the post or sale as such. There's also a mimic effect, so when one does it, a lot of band wagoners are likely to follow.

I may be naive, but I imagine the genuinely interested buyers would remain fairly unaffected and buy based on skills and not trollin' or hating in the thread.

I think it has to do with more and more people feeling confident enough to buy and sell.

I’m pulling this stat outta my ass but I’m guessing at least 75% of current sell and buys on CB are from fist sellers and buyers. I bought 3 characters this month so far, one for me, and 2 to flip. All from new sellers. (with all the delays that come with new sellers)

All you need to do is sit on that forum on a weekend hitting F5 every minute to see just how much more active it is than before. Last week around thursday-friday you had almost 3 pages worth of active sells and buys, you could lose threads withing 5 minutes if you werent careful, when a year ago you had maybe half of the first page active. (right now, threads with a post in the last 24hrs extend SEVEN pages.)

WAY more than enough to make the forum format insufficient, and also more than enough to get CCP to introduce an in game character market.

Anyway, imho more new buyers/sellers usually mean more business, and a much more cutious approach from the new players. it also means that the "flipping crowd" makes WAY bigger margins on sales.

im guessing this is a good thing, the character market was boring, being owned by some players with easily recognizable grammar :p, so if some M&D folks might want to jump in "the game", this is a good time.

character market? the sky is the limit.

This has never been the case. I've traded/created for sale quite a few characters over the past 4 years. Active sales (unconcluded ones) typically go as deep as 10 to 12 pages or more of daily bumps.

I haven't been trading lately, so I don't know what the current state of affairs is, but there has always been a pro group of sellers/buyers out there. They target first time sellers and the impatient. They're typically the ones who provide "helpful" commentary about how your character isn't ready to do [insert list here]. They always low ball and they will almost never buy it at market value, since they're looking to flip it in 3 months or less (the goal is typically to train the remaining level 5s in the skills that are core to that build). I always stuck to my guns in my price setting and always reported the thread responses that contained anything other than bids (and the mods WILL delete them, as they violate the terms of the bazaar threads). It helps to state in the OP that anything but bids is unwelcome. In all my time selling/buying, I always made a profit on the resale and I never sold under my requested price or reserve.

The Eve economy is in it's annual summer recession. Why wouldn't you think this would effect the character bazaar as well?
